I hope you're right, and you may have a point. This state is already so repressive that there isn't much more they CAN do. However, in the court of public opinion, this may (likely) drive more elections in the direction of anti-gun proponents. Making it closer to home just solidifies the opposition's viewpoint at a time when I was hopeful that the SCOTUS would supersede the (un)Safe Act.
I am not saying they are not going to continue to fuck us and try to enact more infringements, just not due to only this.
I'm not sure it's possible to enact too many more infringements on rifles. All that's really left is a semi auto ban, and that would never fly. (Yet)
I worry about when NY loses the current SC case, what kind of carry restrictions will be coming down the pipeline.
I was also hoping for mag bans to be tossed eventually, but in today's climate I doubt that'll ever happen either.

The Police Chief starts to point out that these “urban youths” have no fear about carrying guns in a crowd and have no remorse about having a firefight with rivals in the middle of a crowded street festival. But! As she is looking out in the crowd of reporters and sees a deer in the headlight stare, she catches herself going off script and then pivots back to mention that legal gun owners leaving their guns in their cars is the problem.

But alas the stark difference between the two cities is the Buffalo shooting was perpetrated by a white kid from a liberal bastion of deep-blue New York. Now there is a headline.
The question needs to be asked. Why are the lives of the black people being shot by thugs of lesser notoriety than the lives of people shot by a white liberal? I wonder if the white kid will get released with a ticket and a promise to appear in court?
