May Target Challenge

Haven't had the chance yet, the leagues started this month and the club takes priority.

I'm just supprised nobody else had yet, we are already almost halfway through May!
Well I would be happy to be the first in anycase. Not that I have any choice as to when I will go. I'm really looking forward to it, I have so many things planned for my range day. Though I am a little daunted as to how to tackle the ammo comparo in an objective and organized fashion.

So I got in my shooting before the rain started. I shots weak hand practice twice before I went for score. Then for giggles I shot it strong hand only. It is a tough tough target with either hand.

Anyway my score is 17 /2E the required information is on the target. I will have to go out for the rifle later on in the month when I am not doing load development.

No mulligans, a miss is a miss, whether it landed on paper or not. The good thing about not hitting the paper at all is you can use the same target to try the whole thing over again.

The victory? Yeah I have to get my mitts on one of those. Ugly as sin but I hear they perform fantastically.
And the May Match targets I had me Mum print outband mail to me were waitng in the mail box. Just got home just now. I will hit the range on tuesday I think, I'll leave nice and early.

Yup the Victory, it's a great gun. I used to shoot my Ruger SR22 often, in fact I still have the most rounds through that but the victory is definitely a better gun.

I think the victory is a perfect pair with the 10/22. Simple, humble, reliable, unpretentious, overacheiving. Plus the Victory also has an easily changed barrel as well correct?

Correct, 1 Allen bolt. I have heard online a few people having issues with that bolt coming lose, but I haven't had any issues. I clean my guns after every range visit so I just make sure to tighten it with some elbow grease

I imagine some blue loctite would solve that problem.

either way, while it won't win me anything, these are still a lot better than I thought I'd do. In all not a very good performance this month. I think I'm hamstrung a little with no magnification on my rifle, it was exceedingly difficult to even see the little solider men.

If I'm scoring it correctly I'd go with your 2nd target. Nice shooting!

Rules
Challenge must be completed in the same range session as it was started.
Entries must be shot and posted between 1-31 May.
Print on 8.5x11 sheet of paper (should fill full sheet).
Only one target may be entered per category. Once you enter a target it is your score for that category. Any additional targets posted will be for "kudos" only. You may enter all three categories if you wish.
Final tie breaker is date and time of entry

One shot per emoji/ NK equipment/personnel. Any emoji/equipment/personnel with multiple hits will count for zero points.

Pistol target 9 shots
Rifle target 11 shots

Scoring Values are listed on the target
Additional scoring information for pistol target
Center hit with no edge will gain you an additional point per emoji.
Eye hits will be used for first tie breaker

for example the emoji is worth 3 points and the center only hit gives you an extra point, if you hit both eyes that emoji will be scored as 4/ 2E, one eye would be 4/1E, and no eyes would just be 4.

Yeah, the whole eye hit thing is whats confusing me. I got three single eye hits on #1 but more total hits on #2

25 yard rifle I see two soldier hits and one tank hit (bottom left tank tread) total 12 points
Top pistol target ; Top Row 4/ 1E, Middle Row 6/1E, Bottom Row 15 /1E .....total 25/ 3E
Bottom pistol Target; top row 6, middle row 11/ 1E, bottom row 21/1E ......total 38/ 2E

I cannot tell you which ones to enter if you decide to enter any of these please just clean up your post for the targets you want to enter with the scoring, required information and the words " official entry"

I got the targets printed out, now if we get a good day this weekend with no rain I'll take the grandson out and give it a shot (pun intended).

I might get some black & white targets printed to practice on with a couple of different caliber revolvers before using the color copies.

.22 seems to be the preferred tool for these matches. I don't use .22s for these matches simply because A I don't have a .22 pistol or I would be using it for these matches and B my poor 10/22 is way outperformed by the Daniel Defense AR accuracy wise.
