I think @Waffles! has the correct read on this - they go nowhere without the Senate and biden. So really just a paper tiger.

The most realistic expectation is that it becomes more apparent who actually owns this shit - but that only matters if the people give a shit. And the concessions won by the Freedom Caucus may help in doing that. Now if we could hold MSM feet to the fire it may open some eyes.

I don't think anyone can estimate the importance of this particular rule. The last Omnibus bullshit should have sent up a red flare. There was at least a half a billion dollars in pork complete bullshit in that bill.

I was ecstatic to see this in the rules package. It blows my mind the amount of pork that gets rammed into bills.

They stuff $100B for Gender Studies grants in a bill titled "The Saving Puppies Act" and if you vote no then "Republicans are puppy murderers!!"

I absolutely agree with this. I am hoping that this tiny Ray of sunlight, will turn into a full sunny day. Of course I am skeptical and I am not holding my breath to see if this actually does anything good.

All spending bills must originate in the house.

Imagine they stop the "one massive omnibus spend bill that must pass by midnight" crap, and start just funding things piecemeal for long durations.

They should take the non controversial budget items and pass them for 5 years ahead of time, in multiple small bills.

Then when the budget crunch comes down, all the important stuff is already funded, and people can look at the pork fest that's left and just say "nope, we don't care if that doesn't pass ever"

I got a photo the other day from my friend Aaron Bean who FINALLY got sworn in as the newest Congressman from Florida.

He'd been waiting an extra-long time because, well, there was some disagreement over who would become Speaker of the House. That was resolved Friday night. (See my special Saturday morning "Mark Kaye Saves the Republic Podcast" for all the gory details.) And on Sunday I received a pic of Aaron smiling in the chambers.

You go boy!

And, while many people are despondent that Kevin McCarthy finally won the gavel and will be running things for the slim Republican majority, I am here to reassure you that, while Kevin McCarthy holds the gavel, he will NOT be running things.

The 20 holdout republicans pushing for massive rules changes got everything they wanted.

It took a week, and 15 rounds of voting, but they successfully neutered Kevin McCarthy.

Straight jacket firmly in tact!

I'm not going to go through every single rule that they managed to put in place to shift power away from the Speaker and back to the members, I'll do a deep dive on that during my show today. But rest assured one thing is certain...

Kevin McCarthy is the "Republican Joe Biden."

Much like Joe Biden is a puppet President who just does what the people who truly hold the power tell him to do, so will Kevin McCarthy.

He has no choice.

He may as well just sit in his basement all day eating Ice Cream and wetting himself the way Joe does. He can pop his head out every now and then, make a speech, bang the gavel, and then "Peace out" back to the cave of obscurity now known as The Speaker's office.

The 20 conservative holdouts were able to stuff the RINO like some hunter who is going to display it as a trophy in his massive man cave.
