My Mossberg 500 and Ruger PCC coolification project

So I ordered some water buffalo hide and kydex sheets, did a trace templat of the comb of the stock on my PCC and cut the shape out of the buffalo hide. I have it hot glued to the stock right now just for mock up purposes. My plan is to cut out the same shape in kydex heat and mold it to fit the stock, then glue the hide to the kydex. I'll probably then use velcro or if need be double sided tape to afix it to the stock. I plan to do the same type of thing with the hyde to the Mossy buttstock. I think it is similar enough in color to help make the forend seem less out of place. If this doesn't look good, I could always stain or paint the forend black to better match the plastic stock...

2. It reminds me a bit of those high end Italian cap guns from when I was a kid (Edson, I think?) which also = awesome.

So back to the Mossy for a bit. Today, I cut a piece of Kydex and used the piece of leather I cut out for the PCC and decided it looks good on the Mossy. It's flared out similar to the CAA stock caddy I had on there before, but this ties in better with the wood. Just have to let the glue set over night, but it was set enough for me to take the clamps off and take some pics of what it will look like on the gun.

Not unless he lives in Maryland, lol. I may have to use an O-ring as a spacer to push the mag tube cap forward a smidge more so the bayonet locks up better.
I also painted the heat shield screws black. I guess now it's about finding the right sling...idk, what do you guys think?

So bringing this old thread back, if only briefly. Looks like I am going to get an old wooden buttstock to refinish and go for the Trench gun look with the Mossberg. I like the whole pistol grip thing, but I also think a refinished and distressed normal buttstock would look good as well and might just fit the overall gun better.

Well, I got the stock from @MuttCat . It started out a lighter color but I sanded it down some and took a heat gun to some of the edges to get that effect. I did a coupke of coats of Minwax "gunstock" stain and then applied a coat of True Oil.
Honestly not sure which configuration I like best. I know that is annoying to hear. I'd still like to get a nice leather sling and perhaps some other add ons.

Please elaborate. Are you saying the traditional buttstock I put on doesn't match? It's okay, I can take it, lol. I will say that part of the look I have been going for has been the worn, beat up and somewhat mismatched utilitarian surplus look...

I had a similar pistol grip setup on a Moss 500. it wasn't for me- had to change my grip to work the tang safety (I ended up going back to the wood stock.) wouldn't be an issue if it was a Rem 870 because it uses a trigger guard safety.

I agree. The cheek rest I was trying to make to balance out the wood didn't really work out. All the wooden m4 stocks I've seen are around $100, lol.

If you can find a wood stock that could work along with the grip, that would be my preference here. Otherwise I say the trench gun looks better, too.

I’m a wood furniture fan myself and with that extended mag tube and other accessories the trench gun look is pretty cool ! In fact, you’ve got me second guessing my 500A Mossberg rebuild ideas
