Your right to a speedy trial says that the accused should be tried and either convicted or released quickly.the questions is, should society let an accused killer or rapist, out of jail with no incentive to come back to court. Who becomes responsible if that murderer or rapist, out on his/her own recognizance, kills or rapes another person?

Bail becomes a non issue if the trial is held a week after the arrest.
If the justice system is incapable of doing that, then it is broken and needs to be fixed, releasing people on bail for years prior to a trial is bad, no matter what the dollar amount it is set at.
