An active law enforcement officer in Wayne County attended a meeting last week with the State Police and other local police agencies.
One of the things that was discussed is ammunition background checks. The leader of the NY state legislature has been putting pressure on our Governor to implement the ammunition background check provision of the Safe Act. Previously that technology was not perfected, however they now have an ammunition background check program that recently went on line in California.
The new NY State Police superintendent has met with the Governor and the superintendent (Keith M. Corbett) has made it a priority to bring the ammo background check program online in our state.
Unknown at this time is if you will have to pay a fee for the background check, but they will also limit the amount of ammunition you can purchase each month.
So, if you are a hunter, recreational or competitive shooter may I suggest you stock up now.
That is the body of text sent to me from the 1791 Society earlier today. Looks like it might be here soon.
