Pro tip: Don't be someone that picks and chooses a side based on personal grudges. Why don't you put being a hypocrite aside and jump his shit for putting words in my mouth and insinuating that I don't approve of the second and forth amendments. God I hate hypocrites. Nothing in the world worse than that type of behavior. I am an asshole; but I don't try and hide it, don't lie about it, and don't play infantile word games to beat around the bush. Here's where it gets to Washington vs Jefferson. Jefferson (and Hamilton) wanted the individual states to be able to make laws for their citizens. Washington wanted an extremely strong federal government and weak states that were fully beholden to the rules set by the fed. Might be fallout from Washington being a General with a strict chain of command, and Jefferson with zero military experience was thinking more about the desires of the individuals of specific geographies. His thinking was that laws for very metropolitan areas like NYC, Boston, and Philly might not meet the needs of rural farming communities in the middle of nowhere. For the most part I really prefer Jefferson's anti-Federalist views. At least in his world view; if you thought the laws of some state were too restrictive / not restrictive enough / generally didn't meet with your approval; you could pack up and move to a different state. Like Lincoln's father did. Tom Lincoln felt the Kentucky real estate laws were bullshit (land disputes robbed him of a few farms) so he sold everything he had and converted it to bottles of whiskey (which was actually an important form of currency back then) and moved to Indiana.

When you think someone is a wishy-washy two faced brown-nose I guess the best approach is call them on it rather than just ignore it. The best part of the thread though - for those that appreciate knowing how people really are - the best part is he had to write "I am ignoring you" in a thread. It's not enough to ignore someone. A true two year old actually has to make sure the world knows who he is ignoring because he requires sympathy from others to justify his decision. Sort of, BG. The first 10 were there to remind people that they had certain rights by virtue of being free men in this country. That no state or federal law could rob you of those (because they were inalienable). It had ZERO to do with a state trumping the fed; but everything to do with what they felt were your "god given rights". Meaning you were born with those and NOBODY, not a state, not a fed, not a county, not a city - NOBODY could rob you of those. Beyond that though - we are really talking about the Federalists vs the anti-Federalists. Not that many folks living today read the anti-Federalist papers and the Federalist papers; but that's the heated topic back then. Or at least one of them.
How did you come to that conclusion???? This is exactly what the antis want us to believe, DO NOT buy into it!
They would have you thinking every time I come up there to visit Family that I have a trunk full of guns to sell. Nothing could be further from the truth. I don't even bring in any guns that are "NY legal" (just saying that makes me sick!), that I would be legal to bring there to shoot with me. I'm talking single shot, or bolt action rifles. That state is ridiculous!
Not everyone from down south is buying guns, and running them up north. I'm willing to bet the number is next to nothing. Incidentally, why not go after the real problem.... the gang-bangers that are using these so called "illegal" guns??!!

First off, where do you get off calling me a hypocrite that picks and chooses based on personal grudges? I agree with those that disagree with you about states having the power to restrict someone's rights against the Constitution. I have also liked your posts in other threads on other subjects.
2nd. You misunderstood Robin's post. If you reread it again and understand what he is saying you will more than likely remove your like from his post.
3rd. You were warned once before not to post racial rhetoric. It is offensive to others and has no substance to the conversation at hand. There are black members of this forum you know. What if I told you I was black and didn't appreciate those posts? People like you that post this nonsense push others away that are gun owners and happen to be black from becoming active members on this site. Is that what you want? I am getting more and more tired of Gun owners in NY State basically implying "he got what he deserved" in terms of state and local gun laws. For this specific example, nothing has been stated or shown that the guy was gun running. If he was, then arrest him when he attempts to sell the handgun (which is a violation of a federal law whether we like it or not). Until then, suggesting that he is does not help our cause.
Why is it that this right (gun ownership) requires a specialized app and legal team to just drive across the frickin country or visit relatives?

Hell, the cops don't know all the firearms laws in this state. That's in no way a slam on law enforcement people, there are so many redundant, cross purpose, illogical gun laws in this state, even those that enact them don't know what they mean, they only know every law is one more increment towards the disarmament of everyone, and another hassle for those still hanging on to their God and their Gun!

Guessing the comment is aimed at me.
That is my opinion my observation my feeling. I couldn't care less what other folks think. I never try to impose or force my opinion on others.
Therefore on that same note I will never let anyone force their opinions or believes on me either.
Do I think he was running guns? Absolutely I do and until proven with facts otherwise that is my opinion which I have a right to have and state.

@MoMan based on the article he was arrested for having multiple firearms. You are correct it doesn't state anymore than that but it also doesn't state any less than that. If he was driving through New York and he had his fire arms secured as the federal law stipulates and he was coming from and going to a state where he was legally allowed to own and have those fire arms then he had nothing to worry about.
Even if the LEO screwed up and didn't know the laws, I'm very sure that once he was in front of the judge the judge would've dismissed everything based on Fed law, but obviously that did not happen, he was remanded to jail. So the question is why was he remanded to jail?
Put aside for a minute what we feel and hope the laws should be. Rather look at what the laws are and that we have no choice but to follow them.

Who said you didn't have the right to express an opinion? You are free to judge without facts. That's what keeps forum threads like this going and there is nothing wrong with it. I think saying "we must follow the law" is pretty sad personally. If the founding fathers did that we would be drinking tea and colin kaepernick would be kneeling to god save the queen. Turning someone into a felon over something that is protected in the bill of rights and legal in the majority of states is shameful. It's unlikely a guy that can legally own guns in another state (aka not a felon) is going to be a gun runner with two guns. That's my opinion. Sadly I don't think either of us will hear details on this case. It will be a plea deal because the state does not want this going all the way.
