I have to say I have mixed feelings here, laws are supposed to protect us from harm, profiling or BS excuses to violate your constitutional rights is far too common, I think that's what the majority of the defenders are trying to get at... I've never been arrested or pulled over and searched without due cause. But I have been in the car with friends and seen first hand how the government agents treat people who are guilty of no more than not signaling 2 seconds before switching lanes. To the oh so familiar "you got anything in the car I should know about". "No? You sure??? Because I'm gonna call K9 and if they hit on the car ima search it and find it!" "Ok we will wait for K9... "the dog alerted on the car so we are going to search your vehicle". To not find anything, then get 3 tickets instead of 1 because the LEO was wrong and needed to save face by punishing my friend for not having anything illegal. On the other hand, that LEO could have stopped a potentially fatal situation. Based on his skills to determine behavior and tells that lead him to believe a search was in order...

That argument is kind of saying that for the greater good rights should be violated. The liberals use that argument to ban guns. It’s also being used to search vehicles.

Me personally, I would take whatever collateral damage or few crimes committed that may happen if illegal searches at car stops aren’t conducted just the same as I and I’m sure many here would rather take If illegal searches weren’t conducted on pedestrians. Imagine a world where you are walking down the street and a cop demands your papers and searches you just to prevent a criminal from committing a crime? Why is being in a car any different?

Mistrust of authority MAYBE a result of PTSD. One has been traumatized by an event, a person(s) in authority caused an outcome to be come tragic. If this person had not caused a tragic event and the outcome was different (ie a life wasn't lost) the PTSD may not have occurred.

Yes, our experiences deeply shape how one is influenced (Good or Bad, Right or Wrong). Stabbed in the dark, wondering if PTSD was a possibility.
There's a feeling of frustration in the "Cpl"'s posts that I perceive. They MAYBE due to PTSD, and yes, with out proper evaluation it was a reach. Don't know, maybe I was reaching out to a fellow Veteran, who might be in need of so help. Over stepped my boundaries, perhaps.
