I would guess an aluminum frame would make a nice shooting gun very snappy. Plus these are ugly as sin.

Not sure why he took a shot at glock for not innovating. Glock still seems to be the benchmark that all other are judged by, how much should they change.
As I said when the 365 came out it was a game changer with its size to capacity. and that comes down to a great magazine patent that not other company can match.

I'll never understand the "well glocks are the gold standard but I'll never own one because they don't do anything innovating" or any of the other "why. Wont glock bee innovative"
I dont understand what people want glock to do. Make something much different just because. If they dont like what glock has to offer buy something from 1 of the many other manufactures.
I think what people want Glock to do is what people have been doing to their glocks for years when it come to customizing them. Better sights, slide cuts, no finger groves, flat faced trigger, optic cut. Glock has responded but alot later then other manufacturers. The Gen 5 Glock has everything that I want and I think I may PULL the trigger and get one...lol
Here is the problem... what flat face trigger? I love my agency arms, I know @MilesTeg loves his Overwatch (and there are two styles to choose there) or my buddy swears by his apex, but lets not forget SSVI or what about strike industries, or what about the probably 30 other flat face triggers all of which are slightly different in their own way and all feel different, what one do we pick?
Sights ok so let's see, trijicon? Dawson? XS? Truglo? Ameriglo? Hell night sights? Fiber optic? White dot? Unotch rear? Or squared?
Or how about glock tosses on the cheapest usable bare min sights possible to keep cost down and let the end user decide what sights they will put in...
Glock jumped on the optics cut pretty early so cant use that argument...
IMO all the things you mentioned are subjective, one guy may like it and the next guy does not. Those are features you can never make everyone happy with.
Glock does offer night sights, finger grooved van be filed off with little effort, triggers can be changed in 10 minutes, they do offer optic mounting on the MOS line.
Even if they did all the things you mentioned the nay sayers would say they are not innovative.

If for arguments sake Glock used 3 dot sights like Sig does for example, I would change those 3 dot sights because I don’t like 3 dot sights.
I see what you are saying but it seems that the market is making Glock change these thing up a bit. The changes I see with the Gen 5 I like and I shall get one.
Yeah, and I prefer blacked out rear sight myself.

The gen 5 is just the gen 2, glock will keep rehashing because it works and they dont need to change anything.
Gen 1 1982-1988 (6 years)
Gen 2 1988-1998 (10 years)
Gen 3 1998-2009 (11 years)
Gen 4 2009-2017 (8 years)
Gen 5 2017......
Look at the pattern. Glock will essentially make their profit on the small tooling change and marketing, then for lack of better terms milk that generation, averaging just over 8 years then release a new generation (gen 3 glocks are only still in production thanks to California and will remain in production because of... California)
As for the changes that the gen 5 has that you want I can get a gen 3 frame for $100 and a dremel (oh I know people like to clown about me and a dremel but guess what I get what I want) or a gen 4 frame for 100something or 209 for a complete lower frame and form into how I like in 30min. If I fuck up I send it to glock with 100$ and they send me a new frame back
I will add the Gen3 rtf2 is the best stippling glock offered and I wish that's what they used now.... probably what they will use to make the gen 5s into gen 6
Better finish, flared magwell, better barrel, no finger groves, better trigger and while not anything new to Glock and what I thought it has going for it all along is the lower bore axis. Reliability is there for sure along with aftermarket support. Oh and for kickers which I like is a colored mag follower.
So hope I'm not coming off as my typical "ass hole" but here we go.
Finish is actual worse than the Austrian guns.
. the flaired magwel ok I get that (as much as I love a magwells there are issues if and when there is a malfunction requiring one to strip a magazine) but unless you get the MOS you will have the dumb attempt at the "combat cut"
The finger grooves again I get it, and yes 10min on a gen 3 or 4 they are gone, but I get not wanting to do that yourself..
The trigger? I've dry fired the 19x (which is essentially the 4.5 gen) personally the "influencers" talked up the trigger almost as much as the m&p2.0 trigger, honestly it's the same trigger But (this may be a shocker to most) honestly the glock trigger isnt terrible,
Barrel the earlier ones are actually really really good, unless you reload and use lead bullets, otherwise not getting any upgrade tbh
Aftermarket support 1,000% agree trust me as a CZ fan boy I know how much it sucks not having that even with CZC/CGW/Primary Machine.
Low bore axis also win for glock, m&p also has a low one and well CZs generally do as well especially their traditional metal offerings... all much better than.... sorry have to put in one dig it's been like who knows how long... sig and their super high bore axis

31 (.357 sig)

I get that some may like not having finger grooves but other than that in my opinion, it should have stopped at Gen 3. Back straps and beaver tails could be added to any Gen Glock. Grip Force used to make them. The dual recoil spring operates no better than the Gen 3 single recoil spring. The combat cuts on the mag well are kind of useless too in my opinion. When has anyone here ever had their magazine so stuck that they were required? I never had.
And the barrel as Edward said was better before. It provided slightly faster velocity. Lone wolf makes regular barrels for soft lead shooters. Hard Cast doesn’t foul the poly barrel. I’ve shot 2 boxes back to back of Buffalo Bore Hard Cast with no leading.

Honesty the gen 1-3 recoil spring set up is better because you have an easy ability to tune the spring weight, get an aftermarket recoil rod for a few bucks and for little more than a fist full of coins you can get different weight springs from 11lbs to 23lbs vs the gen 4 which has 1 option.
This is more or less useful for hand loads, suppressor use, or comped guns but it allows for options.
As for the combat cuts, I've had "double feeds" where having to strip a mag is a for real thing, but with glock and how the mags sit it's a non issue and the bad attempt for a combat cut isnt needed
Sorry to hijack this Glock thread but I just got a notice from Sig these are back in stock. What's your thoughts on swapping a trigger shoe on your carry gun? I have my opinion, what's yours?

Flat triggers are the way to go. Swap that bad boy out
I dont see an issue with changing the trigger but opinions vary. It is a factory part so it helps the "its ok argument".
That said if you dont find the stock trigger uncomfortable it wont be worth changing. Some pistols that come with curved triggers have a weird feel like some of the M&Ps. In general I dont think flat triggers and magic, but thats subjective.
I've got flat triggers on a few of my pistols and I like them. I considered getting a GreyGuns trigger but didn't really want to trick out a carry gun. I was thinking along the same lines as you, that this should be OK so I ordered one today. Figured I'll give it a try. Can always change it back if I don't like it.

I always thought that the stock Glock trigger was fine and actually pretty damn good. After installing a flat faced overwatch trigger, my opinion changed.
Sometimes you just have to try things. Going forward, I would never keep the Glock trigger stock. The extra surface area and the shorter initial pull makes it much easier to manipulate for my short fingers.
