Once upon a time Smith & Wesson and Ruger were on the shit list, this too shall pass.
Atleast S&W and Ruger have been making good stuff and have always made stuff, unlike Springfield
Ruger only made some good stuff. They make a few things really well but they make their fair share of bullshit as well. I remember when mini-14s and 30s were considered crap and sold for maybe $120.
Springfield made fantastic rifles in the past. I am talking like 100 years ago though. They made good M-1s and the '03 rifles were the pinnacle of bolt action military rifles. One does need to appreciate those rifles though to get what i am saying. With that said they are making shit these days that is way to expensive.
Companies either survive the market with the bread and butter guns(example the 10/22, Ruger, or say a j-frame .38, S&W) or try dumping money into designs that are cheap and easy to manufacture and fail(example the XD pistol line, Springfield).
***edit*** and just saw the dumb shit you wrote at the end about Springfield making XD, no sorry they dont do shit with the XD but bring it into the country and out their shit name on it and sell it
The Croatian HS2000 was an outstanding pistol at the original import price of what, $200, $250?
But when SA put their name to it and doubled the price I was out. Why pay double for a stupid rollmark?
Well I don't know about the entry level learning thing. To me they seem no better or worse than any Glock or M&P pistol. I never liked the pineapple grip texture and I could do without the grip safety.I would agree(ish), if it was $200 it would be an acceptable entry level learning handgun. The price Springfield is charging for and trying to pass them off as duty guns is not acceptable

Interesting, my SA 1911's are all US made. The XD's crap. You do understand the company called Springfield right now has no actual affiliation with the actual Springfield Armory? The Springfield every one knows today is just a name some dude in Illinois purchased the rights to use back in the 70s.
Do not every mix up the great Springfield Armory with that trash importer from Illinois

You know what SA's real problem is now?
Competition. You can get quality 1911s from anyone now, they only got into the AR game recently and the only real area they have to themselves is the production m14 market aka the M1A. But are there enough people still interested in the M1A to float the whole company?
Specific examples:
1911, on the lower end you have Rock Island and Remington, mid range they compete against the best production 1911s available in the Dan Wesson. In fact if you are looking to spend around $1500 on a 1911 why you wouldn't get a Dan Wesson is beyond me. At the high end where their "Proffesional" model sits you are in Wilson Combat, Les Brown, Nighthawk ect. territory.
There AR is lost in an ocean of competition.
There really aren't many stand out products that SA offers that can't either be had from other manufacturers that are either cheaper or higher quality.
So with the negative publicity tarnishing their name they are screwed.
Speaking to my orginal point, if I wanted an M1A type gun I would save up for an LRB.Oh and the M1A is nothing compared to an equal priced AR-10
Speaking to my orginal point, if I wanted an M1A type gun I would save up for an LRB.
Also, I was considering an SA Operator TRP in 10mm but the CZ/Dan Wesson wisely expanded their 10mm models so I'd rather get a Dan Wesson.
Cheap "entry level" AR? I'd go with an M&P15 sport over the Saint. Those loaded Saints get a little up there, for $1,000+ I am very, very happy with Daniel Defense but at that level you also have the industry favorite BCM. And countless others.
There is simply no need to buy an SA product, boycotting them is very easy. And that is what's kicking their ass right now.
What I'm trying to argue is that I don't think SA's products are shit. But for everything they have there is an alternative, either cheaper or better.See I'm glad someone can be a little more articulate thanmyself, I sadly just go with the blunt they are shit their guns are shit and can buy better doesnt usually work for people (they really don't want to do their own research)

A logical argument is stronger than one based on hyperbole y'know.Well ok, so the XD, shit, the company shit, the other products based on their price point ...... shit

I have yet to meet someone who has owned or handled an xd pistol that doesn’t like them. I know many glock converts to the xd pistol line. I have one and love it. I’ve talked to many people who say I have one too and love it or that’s my next gun I shot a buddy of mines and loved it. One of my good friends just bought one, the pastor at my church just bought one. I’m sure there are a few that don’t like them, but hey I didn’t like the glock or the MP that’s why I bought the Springfield.Ruger only made some good stuff. If you ever run across me you will have met that person. IMO the M&P has it all over the XD.I have yet to meet someone who has owned or handled an xd pistol that doesn’t like them. Another indication that people like the xd line up is that I do t see used ones very often at all. In fact I see a lot of used glocks. Could be there are more glocks in circulation and I’m not saying glocks are inferior, but I liked the xd trigger way better and I felt it was built more solidly than a glock for $100 less.
Hahhhahhahahhaa
Guys come one stop please I cant handle all this, its it's just to funny to read all this and take any of you seriously.
There is a reason some major instructors dont allow them in their classes. And I think there might be only 1 national instructor that even shoots an XD and that's be cause they pay him to risk his life with one
