I’m disassembling a factory assembled Stag Arms AR for some Cerakote work. Just some things I’ve noticed from many other well known factory assembled AR’s as well as this one. They use crappy standard gun oil on threads that should be getting Aeroshell 64. Another thing to take note of is that it’s only staked in one spot when the minimum should be two, most likely three is you use a FCD castle nut. It was very poorly staked From the get-go. The displaced metal was so thin because the Stag factory began staking much too close to the edge of the end plate and it cracked from them staking it to begin with. Also the castle nut was not even close to torqued to spec. I’ve seen all these same problems over and over from main stream companies.

Thanks to @1075tech I scored 1400 pieces of new and over 100 once fired 356 TSW brass for 300 bucks. This coupled with my 3500 factory rounds will keep me shooting my family heirloom for a lifetime.

Forgot to mention that my next build will be using an 11.5” barrel and I purposely chose a rail that gives me as much real estate as possible but doesn’t tuck the muzzle device. It’ll pretty much be mimicking my 13.7” setup but now I’ll practically be making my own KAC SR-15 CQB styles setup. The 10.75” URX 4 rail is perfect for 11.5” barrel, but because of the inherent nature of how they mount, they are trickier to work on.

ya ever come across the fake suppressors that are reverse threaded to fit over the barrel giving it a very short look ?

It’s not going to make the overall length any shorter than it would be without the faux suppressor (minus the length of whatever muzzle device that would be chosen). All faux suppressors are are just glorified thread protectors. I also don’t quite understand why they would be reverse threaded since if the threads of a barrel aren’t reverse threaded, how would it install since two different threadings don’t work together. Seems like it would require a standard thread to reverse thread adapter to go on first before even being able to tighten the faux suppressor down. If you’re able to have a proper muzzle device of some sort, that’s 100% a better choice, even if it’s an A2 birdcage. But if you can’t have a standard muzzle device on some kind, I guess using the faux suppressor at a thread protector works.

Like this ? I have one as a thread protector on a PCC . They make one for 556 rifles too .

Got a bunch more carbon and fouling caked up on this thing yesterday. Almost can’t see the Solgw Rebellious Stripes anymore. No failures of cycling, feeding, extracting, nothing…this thing just keeps working without a hiccup.
