I never understood this argument. If Russia did nothing, they would have NATO on their 1000 km border in the Don bass. If they take the Ukraine they have NATO on their 1000 km border in Poland. They will have gained 1000 km of distance east to west from the previous Russian border creating a fairly large buffer zone. They have NATO on their border here, or they have NATO on their border there . Seems like a no brainier to me.

They were "neutral" when they felt safe. Now that the bear is growling outside their door, they are scared and want protection from NATO.

These late-to- the-party nations, once admitted to NATO, should not be granted NATO article V protection for 10 years or until they pay 10 years worth of NATO obligations.

It's going badly for them. They can't take this sustained beating indefinitely.

Russia has lost a crap ton as well but they have the numbers to sustain it.

When I hear the reports in western media from random Ukrainian officials more or less all saying the same "we're winning, we're hitting them so hard, we just need more weapons" it's exactly the type of rhetoric I would expect someone who is losing and doesn't want to panic the troops to say.

Agreed.

I'm actually surprised that Ukraine has 50% of their forces. I personally think that report is an overestimate. The Ukrainians probably have very few decent armor pieces left intact. Their artillery has been mostly depleted (which is why they needed NATO donations). At some point, Ukraine is going to have to admit that no matter how many men and machines they throw against the Russians, Ukraine will end up on the losing end of the exchange in the long run. Russian military leadership has never been overly concerned about massive losses as long as they win at the end of the campaign.

Ukraine has also lost the bulk of their better more experienced forces.

I think their remaining 50% is a majority of emergency conscripts and weaker units. They won't last long. These are the types of units that will rout and surrender or flee.

The better trained and equipped Ukrainian units are mostly combat ineffective due to heavy losses.

Ukraine military and government officials are destroying grain storage. At the same time fields are burning and the western media are blaming Russia for setting fire to farmland in an effort to destroy the grain harvest. During a NATO press conference in Madrid [Transcript Here], today Joe Biden specifically attributed the upcoming global food shortage to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Biden was emphatic when responding to a question about oil costs, western nation energy development and the pending food shortage.

Please understand… The food shortage is a done deal. We are beyond the point where current action could impact what is coming. The timeframe to mitigate any global food shortage is in the rear-view. Efforts to mitigate the food crisis should have been done months ago. Nothing was or is being done.

The Western Alliance now needs a scapegoat, a justification for a food crisis that is almost certain to surface. We do not know the scale of the shortage, but we do know global food supplies are going to be less than needed to feed the world population.

The direct cause of the food shortage is the Western government decision to prioritize climate change over food production. The Build Back Better climate change agenda has created massive disruption with energy products (biofuel, fertilizer, diesel, natural gas etc) which are critical for the efficient production of food. However, the western alliance cannot and will not take responsibility for the food crisis. Instead, as you are seeing above, their plan is to blame Russia.

Stopping Russia from starving the world will be the justification for a physical escalation of conflict between NATO and Russia. All of the signs and indicators point in this direction. None of the geopolitical or global economic signs point away from this direction. A NATO led war with Russia is not a matter of “if”, it is a question of “when?”
