why? because im not addicted to electronic devices. If all this shit went away tomorrow, I couldn't care less. hell, I still have a landline to make phone calls and thats really all I need.

There's two ways to look at this. Yes you should be able to drink from the cow at a restaurant if you want. But you shouldn't be eating food that's laced with cancer-causing preservatives without your knowledge so that the restaurant can save a buck.

I live in a condo complex. We are not allowed to place satellite dishes on the building itself. The only people that have them are the ones that have the balconies facing the right direction and they have them on poles in flower pots filled with cement. My balcony faces the wrong direction. My only other recourse would be DSL. If they did the same thing what would be my choice? What if Dish Network decided to do the same thing? What would be your recourse?

Set up a VPN proxy. Now they just see encrypted VPN traffic.

You'd have two options. Do without and not get your information or be force-fed what they want you to read or see.

Or go to the library to get your information. Or pay your neighbor $10 for WiFi access. Or move. Nobody is forcing you to enter into contract with an ISP.

I would never argue that we need no regulation whatsoever. What we do need is focused legislation. And that is something that is severely lacking.

OpenVPN runs on TCP/UDP and can be configured for port 443. To the ISP, it looks like you're just browsing a HTTPS site.

Libraries usually get discounted rates and would probably be getting a full package.

But your principle is out the window for other things like private ambulances working under 911 required to do basic first aid, restaurants having to be up to code so they aren't selling you fake meat, ect.

Private ambulances work under 911. Or did you not know that? The private ambulance on its way from a hospital in route to another hospital has to respond to a vehicle accident it observes.

And I disagree with you the same as I would disagree with you if you thought the government had no roll in protecting its people from manufacturers who will put cancer-causing agents in food that the people aren't aware of or that the government shouldn't have guidelines and codes for buildings regarding fire safety.

Let's put the shoe on the other foot. Let's say that I run a business that caters to stock traders. I live in East Bumfuck, Kentucky. Now, for my business, I need very quick internet to the stock exchange. I don't need quick internet for anything else. People want to browse NYGunForum.com from the office? you can do that on a standard connection. Why shouldn't my ISP be able to guarantee a low latency connection and prioritize my traffic if I'm willing to pay for it?

Let's say I live in Smalltown, Idaho. My kid needs to have surgery, but isn't well enough to travel. Why shouldn't the hospital be able to pay for a super speedy, reliable connection with 99.9999999999999% uptime to connect to a doctor who will do the surgery remotely from St. Jude's hospital?

NN would block these.
