I live in the sticks and someone tried to steal my car. When I told the trooper who I thought it might be, given the person's history, he told me he decided it was a snowmobiler who had tried to take my car because his sled had broken down. I asked why his tracks came from the home of the person I suspected and he said there is probably a snowmobile somewhere in the woods near there broke down. Awesome bit of police work.

The problem is I don't know if I'm gonna get pulled over by someone like you or by someone in the Cuomo Youth Brigade. And it sucks. Look at all these vehicle terror attacks! Imagine what would happen if some bastard got a hold of my truck, or one like it. How am I supposed to stop a determined terrorist hijacker unarmed? It is vital to national security that truckers be allowed arms. Maybe it should even be compulsory. I'd be willing to go through any background check or psych exam or anything to get clearance to carry arms in my truck. A handgun and a carbine is not too much to ask I think, for qualified drivers. It would greatly increase our nation's security against terrorism.
All it would take would be one sheriff of one tiny town in TX to decide he could use a few hundred thousand volunteer deputies.....
If you aren't committing any crimes, why would the cops search your person?
It is easier to draw a handgun from a vehicle mounted holster than on your person when seated.
Not so with appendix or crossdraw. 4 o'clock is for the birds. But that isn't what these guys here want to do. They want to take apart dashes to hide them. What the hell for. Just carry the thing or use a magnetic holster if you are driving long distances.
