keep calling until someone picks up the phone. woman that picks up the phone will ask you a series of questions.
[i called a total of 5 times today, she recognized my phone number and said, are you the one who keeps calling? lol]
do you have paperwork ready... yes
money order ready...yes
pistol purchase .. yes
etc.etc.
just say basically YES to all questions even if you are NOT READY.
you will get enough time anyway, to get your paperwork ready.

I remember when I went for my interview at
Westchester County for a Pistol Permit many moons ago.
I told the detective not to worry.
I'm an Italian Boy from the Bronx.
Weapon of choice is a Baseball Bat !

Wow, those are pretty impressive appointment times. Just a few years ago, the appointments were anywhere from 7-9 months from the date you scheduled.

thanks, the reason i am asking is. i can let the people on the application know, 'answer the phone, or atleast call back'
its normal for us to ignore the phone calls when we dont recognize the number and assume spam or tele marketers, and let it go to VM.
every new job i took, they did background verification and assign it to a third party for verification, they contact all the past employers to verify my employment and complete the background. All my contacts and previous employers had to provide verification to complete the employment background check.
not sure if it is that thorough.

Does anyone know if the safety course has to be within a year of when you are applying? It doesn’t say anywhere but someone told me it should be within the year

I have an appt on sept 10th.. gotta get the ball rolling with most of the stuff. I’m like 50% done with everything

I don't know how it works down there, but up here you get an idea how far along your application is by how many of your contacts they have talked to.
When your buddy calls and says "guess who I just talked to" it's like the progress bar on your application moves a few more pixles.

My only saving grace is that everything got shut down in March.. but that was after a year was up... but there isn’t anything in paperwork that says it needs to be within a certain amount of time... only the photos

I would try the Long Island stores.
They have more inventory than Westchester.
