Setup means that I have a brand new Redding t7 and Hornady powder measure new in the box I got a few years ago. Never set them up yet due to lack of space to do so. I would still need other things to use them though too.
I will eventually reload when I get my stuff setup to offset the cost but who knows when that will be. So being able to buy over the counter for now is a huge benefit.
You would go 6.8 over 450 bushmaster or 458 socom? Why? My plan is 200 yards and less btw. Just looking for a fun setup. Doesn’t need to be the most accurate.
I have seen your caliber before and it is pretty cool. I do not want to be limited to only being able to roll my own and a proprietary barrel. Being able to just order a barrel, bolt and ammo is a plus for me
It is true. The uppers and lowers are different then standard AR even though they look similar. I am ok with that and it’s a great gun as is regardless. It’s basically just a barrel change and bolt swap to put whatever caliber you want in this so no real need to change the upper/lower config...
Here is a good question that I cannot find. If the 458 socom is made from a 50AE case and the ejection port on the AR is barely .5" depending on how you measure. There sure isn't a lot of room for the case to make it through if any. Are there specific uppers with a larger port that I'm not...
Yea I know they have them in 300blk already but I already has this 223 version for a few years now so might as well use it. I am considering 300blk but it will be a last resort caliber.
No not looking to do 9mm or really any pistol sliver as the bolt won’t work. It was brought up and is interesting that’s all.
But what I am looking for is something off the shelf. Already produced barrels and bolts. Something bigger than 556. Would like something along the lines of 450...
That’s actually a good idea. I wonder if someone like ADCO can machine the bolt for that? Then I would have to find a bolt that fits the carrier. Most of the pcc’s have a solid bolt
So...I did some looking around the interwebs and realized I could change the barrel on my PAR easily. It is currently just 223/556 with the stock 16" pencil barrel. Its a great shooter as is, but with 2 other AR style rifles in 223/556, I was thinking this would be a fun gun to make something...
I wish I could ban my neighbors from smoking cigarettes. I cannot even go out of my house without having to smell it. It's pretty annoying to say the least.
I throw that stuff out anyways. No need for a box hanging around. I have a lot of guns and no one elver asks if I have the box.
$650 seems to be about the threshold. Stuff priced above that is sitting and stuff below that seems to be selling if its not beat to death.
No it doesn't need to be perfect. Probably wont even see it under the hand guard anyways. I'm pretty sure though that a gas block wont work as of the pump action.
Why would welding ruin the barrel? It was just not too long ago we used to all weld on our brakes and that didn't ruin anything.
As for the gas block...I don't think that will work as it will probably get in the way of the pump mechanism.
I have a Troy PAR in 223/556. Its an awesome rifle and would probably still own one even if I was free of NY. Anyways I am looking to change the barrel to probably 7.62x39 since I have a ton of that ammo and only an SKS now to use it.
Who sells AR barrels with no gas port? Or who can weld...
I do not have the bolt catch yet. I also do not have the bolt installed in the bolt carrier yet in that picture. I did notice that the carrier will catch on the back of the mag. Not sure what the deal is with that.
Build Price:
Lower - $550 + $20 Transfer @Firefly Firearms
Upper - Aero...
Bought this scope a few years ago. Mounted it to my Savage 17HMR and never ended up using it. Scope has never left my gun safe. I do not have box sorry.
$200 shipped
I have a 1st gen Ruger LCP. Been carrying it for years without issue. Yes the trigger is like a staple gun, but its not a target gun...Point and pull. It works. I usually carry it in my front right pocket in a Elite pocket holster. I actually just picked up a Fobus paddle OWB for it...
Thanks guys. You are making it real hard not to buy one. I do not have any revolvers yet but my plan is to pair it with the new Ruger Redhawk 8 round 2.75" barrel. Smaller version of the Alaskan
Thank you for this. I only ask because I just made a thread about building an SCR upper. Well I was going to use a midwest industries free float hand guard and someone said its a "Shroud" and illegal.
Nope. That's totally different. Tha'ts like a 10/22 but in 44 mag. Semi auto. The ones I am talking about are bolt action.
Regardless I feel that's an exceptional deal for one of those if in nice shape.
Can someone explain this? I want to build an upper for an SCR with a free float handguard but someone said it was no good cause its a shroud. Whats the deal???
Thanks. I have no problem with a basic 5lb mil-spec trigger. When I handled one of these a few years ago (1st gen) I was not too happy with the trigger. Heard they are much improved though now.
I will be putting a vortex sparc 2 red dot on mine. I would like to get a 20-24" barrel upper...
Looking for info on the Ruger 77/357 or 77/44. Heavily considering picking one up in the next few weeks and would like to hear about them.
Considering the 357 over the 44. The goal is to also pickup a revolver in same caliber and i'm not to interested in a 44 mag revolver. Plus I can use...
