Every time you add or remove a gun from your license at the local clerk's office or buy a pistol from a gun store, they send a card to the state police. I've watched them do it every time I make a change. Stupidly it's a paper card, so all of that would need to be processed, but it's already in...
I’ve got a BP Harper’s Ferry pistol. I went to add it to my pistol license so I could shoot it and they were genuinely annoyed that I was bothering to. Getting all the transfer information was difficult. I had to make a good number of phone calls trying to trace down all the FFL info of the...
Yeah, you’ll need a magnum primer to set off 13-14 grains of 2400. A regular large pistol primer is enough, but a regular small pistol primer isn’t. It’ll send the bullet down range but it won’t cycle a semi-auto.
All of this was negotiated in the back room with Cuomo, Skelos, and Silver. You have no idea what was in the various drafts as all we ever saw was the final bill at 11pm on a Tuesday night.
Confiscation has already happened of registered guns in NYC under David Dinkins, it was already a tried and true tactic when Cuomo said this statement via The NY Times: In the interview, Mr. Cuomo did not offer specifics about the measures he might propose, but, while discussing assault weapons...
They all thought Hillary was going to win and now they’re paying the price. That and having a reputation for bringing out firearms that keep getting recalled.
This is the first time I've been genuinely excited about any of this. This going to SCOTUS would be huge. Either it would give us what we want or settle it once and for all so we wouldn't be gnashing our teeth forever. This finally gives us a really solid circuit split which makes SCOTUS not...
It's nice to see that they've adopted the "separate locked container" language of NYC. When I saw this thread title I was excited that they're finally getting a little better. Nope quite the opposite. SCOTUS has failed us.
Because silencer is the official term in the NFA that this is supposed to undo. The very first sound suppressors were called silencers and the name stuck.
I know the 9th appeals will overturn it, at least when the dissenting 1/3rd forces it to en banc, but the California federal court just said that high cap mags are protected under the 2nd. He specifically mentioned Thomas and Scalia's dissenting opinions concerning not taking 2nd cases to...
Wow, this is huge. Preliminary injunctions are only given when the judge feels there's a pretty good chance they'll win at trial. That said, we all know the en banc hearing (assuming it gets that far) will just overturn it.
I think Thomas knows the opinions of the jurists and would have mentioned that if it was the sticking point. This is how the other judges can effectively undo Heller without having the votes to do it.
Someone I know was shot accidentally with a 9mm FMJ and it went into the hip region and right out the back with, all things considered, not terrible damage. It's exactly the opposite of what you're going for with all those ballistics gelatin tests.
People who aren't used to handling firearms have no concept of the power that they're holding. It's like handing someone a lightsaber for the first time and expecting them to retain all of their limbs.
The reality is that a pump action shotgun isn't an assault weapon under the intent of the SAFE Act and the former 1994 AWB ban in any shape or form. What this guy wants to built absolutely is except for this definition gap. I still think it's technically legal, but they quite possibly would take...
So this was posted earlier today. An actual letter! It would imply that the police do follow the law, implying hope for something like what you guys have been talking about.

Looking at this seriously for a minute, the governor of the state going to the site of a possible terrorist attack right after it happened is a great way to get killed if that car had a delayed bomb in it, which ISIS is known for. Create havoc, then kill the first responders. The last place you...
Of the 2 big outdoor public ranges on long island for rifle shooting, Brookhaven is Nazi Germany and Calverton is like Knob Creek. There's a rifle line and a pistol line. At the pistol line, the people there call their own cease fires to change targets and an employee calls them at the rifle...
I've got a Bravo Company 14.5" lightweight and fluted barreled upper with their ultra lightweight magnesium rail. It's awesome and keeps the whole AR really light, particularly with a lightweight optic like an aimpoint T1. I use it for competitions where we shoot about 30 rounds per stage and...
This specific thing has already gone to the SCOTUS and the person won against the ATF. As long as a lower is transferred as an other or a pistol, it can then be made into a rifle and back again. Not so for a rifle. This particular thing has been solidly decided already.
I'd say there are better less controversial options for home defense. The new Mossberg Shockwave and the Keltec KSG for starters. Both are just a hair over 26" and have the ability to put far more than 10 projectiles down range before reloading.
I haven't seen anything other than seeing lots of people put them on their builds in NY, and then other people mentioning that NYSP has said they consider them a stock. The number of people in the whole state who have them on their fixed mag pistol build is probably measurable with your hands. I...
I agree that this would be non-NFA and would be legal in NY as it doesn't meet the definition of a firearm as per PL 265 definitions. I was just about to get one going for myself but then the SAFE Act passed and I decided it wouldn't be worth the hassle seeing as restrictions were getting worse...
It's worth mentioning that the guy is 6'8" and has huge hands. He regularly makes 200 yard gong hits with a Glock 26. He could probably crush it like a walnut if he wanted to.
Bottlenecked pistol cartridges are a pain in the butt for anything other than just shooting factory ammo. They're seriously awesome as evidenced in the video below, but not worth all that extra effort.
If you can't rack a glock slide, you're going to have a bad time pulling a 12 pound revolver trigger with one finger. I think the reliability does come up big though. Pull trigger, didn't go bang. Pull it again. With an automatic the whole tap rack bang thing comes in to play and there's a...
"Why this information was circulated without vetting is beyond comprehension" so DSI made a mistake. Still not seeing the evil here. They thought they were doing the right thing and it went bad. Have you actually gone down to their shop and talked to the owner and their engineer who works on...
To be clear, Dark Storm is a for profit business. There's no reason why they can't be both fighting for our rights and making a living at the same time. If anyone is to blame concerning the "our stuff is kosher but other people's inventions aren't", it's the police, not DSI. Don't shoot the...
So remind me what they did to you? I've spoken to the guys a few times and when they started out, they were the ones pushing the boundaries of ARs in NY right after the SAFE was trying to remove all ARs from being able to be purchased in this state. They were aggressive with taking the state...
It's funny to see the "they're still in business?" comments here. They recently opened a new location with their own range. Their store is the nicest and most modern gun store on Long Island at this point. They're not going anywhere anytime soon.
I guess it depends on the bullet weight, but for me, 10mm starts at 9gr. I'm working on 10 and 10.5 right now under a 155gr bullet. I'm including a picture of my Glock 29 just so people don't think I'm just a Glock hater. :)
Anyone here can live their life the way they want up until the point of being arrested and that's certainly your choice. You say 'fuck the courts', but this is a lawsuit. It hinges entirely on what the courts think of such things, which in this case says you don't have the right to carry...
Sure. With the ones I mentioned, they'll shoot better than a Glock. With this expensive custom Glock, it won't shoot any better than one that's $400.
Because a custom metal gun will shoot fantastically. A Glock will always just be a $400 honda civic. There's a reason why almost all of the top...
He has no right to conceal carry. None whatsoever. It's been through the courts already. They said that he didn't meet their completely made up and arbitrary requirements for getting an unrestricted license. Seriously there's nothing you can do about it when the court says you have no right to...
