Sadly, I won't be able to get him a 10/22, or any other semi-automatic rifle. FUKH for that one. It'll have to be straight up bolt/pump action for him at this point.
My oldest took, and passed his hunter safety course a couple weeks ago. He's only 11, so we have a bit of time as he can't hunt until he's 12, but we're starting to look into getting him his first hunting gun, possibly for Christmas.
The problem is that he wants to hunt EVERYTHING, so it's...
I mean, we have enough drivers right now (well, enough to get it done, I'm sure they'd prefer more). The biggest issue our district has, as a rural district, is distance. It's also entirely possible, like others have said, is that they'd need to increase the routes due to battery range...
Our school district has already determined they'd have to, at minimum, double their bus fleet to be able to handle bussing in a single day. They'd essentially need a fleet for the morning and a fleet for the afternoon runs.
I saw a comment on Reddit where a FFL bought a box of .22 before he opened the shop for the day to see how the process would go. He wound up delayed 4 hours, and ultimately was denied. An FFL was denied to buy a box of .22. Let that sink in.
Edit: He wasn't denied.
