my dad killed a deer with a 22lr pistol .. it was a battle .. legs kicking , antlers flashing around ..











stopped at a car deer accident .. deer alive but down .. and a co-worker ,.. pop in the ear ... deer dead .. i'll tell them you'll be late .. i was never here ..

One can pop a small deer even a larger animal with a modern 22 Air rifle. WE know that.

Stop by the 6.8 and hunting forums and talk to the guys at the ranches down in TX and learn how you can take the Barack Obama and several other calibers and put them in the trash can. These guys take heads by the thousands every year.
If one is serious, anything short of the 6.8 or even a hunting 150gr 7.62x39 is not a good idea.
Yes they can kill but many will run away hurt.

This was the very first version 1.0 of the 35 hog and deer smasher.
Look at the numbers from a 10" barrel even before growing the case another 1/16" or so.



These were the good times doing this development. ... and while the joke is a joke,
in those forums, you can find good stuff and read about the hogs running away after some
Einstein ballistician and weekend warrior emptied entire magazines on them.

no joke about those "homo sapiens" self labeled as hunters.

True !!! I wanted to have fun with the AR Deer hunting Just before the safe act. I did neck shots from a bipod with the pred AR just for one last fun hunt. The pics should show that.

Pretty cool. The thing about the 223 is you have the modern bullets and ammo and also the speed. Speed kills.

It is often we hear the 110gr of the WatchOut vs the 55gr of the 223 and my first thought is... what does the Vietnam Era 55gr fmj has to do with any of this? It is all marketing BS.
Another Common claim is how well the rounds do in short barrels but there is little published about how well the 6.8, 7.62x39
and even the 223 specialty ammo does. The 6.8 and 7.62x39 leave the Barak behind for any use other than subsonic and for that we are talking
about specialty and expensive ammo and bullets, that in any case are useless for average hunting or in tactical use against body armor.

In 223 take the 77gr TMK from black hills, even from 11" and 14" barrels, with impressive performance. That is why the Navy seals, secret service, and Special forces use this round and caliber and not the Barak joke. Of all the weapons systems why they stick to the 223 with modern ammo and
guns? We can talk real world ballistics if anyone is interested. Any of this leaves the barak in the dust even from the short barrels.

One needs to understand that, by inception, the whisper line designed by Marty (JD) was aimed to be subsonic.
This has been well documented and explained in the books and in the wildcatters forums where Marty posts.

The fact that AAC bought the blue print and renamed the round to blackout doesn't change that.
After that and with lots of marketing dollars, an internet caliber was born.
Same way Chrysler still sells "luxury quality" cars.

Any round that had sufficient penetration will kill. Energy on paper is meaningless. That guy obviously used a .300 AAC round that penetrated enough to reach vitals on that bear. I'm sure it wasn't explosive energy dump that killed the bear like the internet leaves you to believe.

Prob dumped the mag in it. Little bear got scared and ran into a tree. Died of massive head injury.

what i really think .. any cal is ok for any game ... long shots with a small cal .. you got lucky ,,

but if you jump out of your stand and tackle them .. a .22 short is a-ok ;)

what cal is a spear ?? i have seen vids of guys hunting bear with fkin spears ..

I would not want to use either on a big costal Brown. Notice what bullet he used will. Hunting and stopping big bear are not the same. The natives in Alaska shoot them with mini 14’s and 30-30’s all the time. They just have to shoot them a bunch.

I know what he used. A .45 FMJ that reached vitals. Same as the guy who got one with a 9mm hard cast. A Chinese guy also killed one at the zoo with one round from an AK. An NYPD cop also got a polar bear at the zoo with a .38 Special semi wadcutter.

I was talking about the 300 bo bullet. The same one I use in my .357 mag
