Only one bear was dumb enough to trifle with someone carrying a .45 super. The greatest all around cartridge ever..... also a Ruger .454 JammedMore non handcannon and non .300 Winchester Magnum bear killings.

45 super if you want to carry it. 460 if you want more of a range toy/woods gun. 460 has way more punch but I have no personal experience with it. The reason I went with the super is because I can’t shoot the big boomers any more. Even a k frame .357 hurts. I have a forearm that is more metal than bone. It’s getting worse and worse. The 45 super has plenty of pop and not all that much felt recoil. It also still runs fine with 45 acp. I will take it into the woods for deer this season.Well since we are throwing rando handgun cartridges in the mix.

what i really think .. any cal is ok for any game ... long shots with a small cal .. you got lucky ,,
but if you jump out of your stand and tackle them .. a .22 short is a-ok
what cal is a spear ?? i have seen vids of guys hunting bear with fkin spears ..
That would be kind of like a 10mm vs 44mag (light) comparison. If it was strictly for hunting I would chose the 460.That's what I mean though.. for a deer
Ha awesome. Hope that idiot hurt himself.
If they was me the footage would have been destroyedStill one of my favorite.
Would the compensated 460 be by legal? I doubt it.That's what I mean though.. for a deer
Pretty cool. The thing about the 223 is you have the modern bullets and ammo and also the speed. Speed kills.
It is often we hear the 110gr of the WatchOut vs the 55gr of the 223 and my first thought is... what does the Vietnam Era 55gr fmj has to do with any of this? It is all marketing BS.
Another Common claim is how well the rounds do in short barrels but there is little published about how well the 6.8, 7.62x39
and even the 223 specialty ammo does. The 6.8 and 7.62x39 leave the Barak behind for any use other than subsonic and for that we are talking
about specialty and expensive ammo and bullets, that in any case are useless for average hunting or in tactical use against body armor.
In 223 take the 77gr TMK from black hills, even from 11" and 14" barrels, with impressive performance. That is why the Navy seals, secret service, and Special forces use this round and caliber and not the Barak joke. Of all the weapons systems why they stick to the 223 with modern ammo and
guns? We can talk real world ballistics if anyone is interested. Any of this leaves the barak in the dust even from the short barrels.
One needs to understand that, by inception, the whisper line designed by Marty (JD) was aimed to be subsonic.
This has been well documented and explained in the books and in the wildcatters forums where Marty posts.
The fact that AAC bought the blue print and renamed the round to blackout doesn't change that.
After that and with lots of marketing dollars, an internet caliber was born.
Same way Chrysler still sells "luxury quality" cars.
That is a sad picture for a hunter (Sportsman) to post.from FB 300 BO Discussion group
You can carry 500rds. of 223 or only 250 of 7.62.... On Deer I had Rem 72? or 75gr. rounds I used. Only did it twice hunting Deer with 223. And again it was neck shots. !!!

If someone needs more than 2 rounds x head to go hunting then they need to find another sport.
The bullet weight is more important if one has a larger animal but ultimately the design (terminal design) and impact speed for proper function is more important, obviously considering the placement that is the key.
Are you comparing close range charge stopping with hunting? The 300 will work with the proper bullet and short ranges. There are far better choices if one might shoot over 100-125 yards though. If a 10mm is fine for bear, a .300 BO would be fine for deer.
I'm rolling my eyes. Are you comparing close range charge stopping with hunting? The 300 will work with the proper bullet and short ranges. There are far better choices if one might shoot over 100-125 yards though.
What is it that you are saying exactly? The .300 is no good for deer?I'm rolling my eyes.
i shot a rock 2 times today with 7.62x54r silver tip .. it didn't break WTH .. it was only 3 feet away too
Yes it will bounce off at 126 yards but kill them at 125What is it that you are saying exactly? The .300 is no good for deer?
Use pumice rocks.
