I don't chase down criminals for a living, my chances of getting into a prolonged gun battle are about nill, and the majority of gunfights are over pretty quickly one way or the other. It may surprise some here, the vast majority of people I know, either cops or regular Joe's, carry a 5 shot J frame revolvers(easy to carry especially the Airweights) and have so for decades, not Glock 19's.
Many people even carry a Ruger LCP, not a wondernine or even close.

Yes it sucks to be told what to do but I'm going to remedy some of that by vacating this F'd up state in the near future.

If you were to say that ten or so years ago, I'd agree with you. However, in this day and age the terrorism threat exists. You may find yourself trapped in a place where shooting your way out may be your only chance of survival. Think the Pulse night club.

Now I'm not saying, that you will survive the incident or that you should be a cowboy, but if your back is against wall and the shooter is blocking your only form of egress, a 6 shooter won't cut it like it would if you run into a mugger on the street.

Are the chances of that happening low? Probably. Yet the chances of that happening to those guys at the nightclub were low too.

This really comes down to one of two things.

If he was drinking and driving, he opens himself up to special notice from the cops, doing so with illegal standard capacity magazines makes a dumb idea even dumber.

If on the other hand he was working and was stone sober, getting into a pissing match on the side of the road with the cops, over a charge that if not guilty of, could have been easily proven on the side of the road, all while in possesion of illegal magazines is just a special kind of dumb.

I can't think of any reason why it would be beneficial to carry a revolver over a semi- in a proper holster. There's never been a time in my years of carrying that I have not been able to dress appropriately for concealing a handgun. Nowadays I carry a Glock 19 almost exclusively with little to no issue, ever. I prefer to adjust my manner of dress rather than carrying 5, 6 shots maximum.

Knowing that most cops will do what they have to do, I will never carry a 15 rounder in public. That doesn't mean I'm bending over like some say. All it means is that I'm going home to my family at night.

Whether I have 15 rounders stashed somewheres else is an entirely different matter. Whether I have non compliant AR parts is also a different matter.

If I'm going to dress for an active shooter or other mass casualty event, every day, I may as well carry a G17 with a two dozen mags(10 rounders of course here in NY, lol). Come to think of it a battle rifle is more appropriate for these horrific events people envision happening to them.

A stop for suspected DWI doesn't have anything to do with the trunk, let alone if something is locked within. Opening it absent suspicion would be poisoned fruit... Just saying. Or did I miss something, or that the mags in the box were found afterwards when the property was seized? Everything is relative and not arbitrary. Implied consent does not apply to a locked box in the trunk, but certainly anything in plain sight is fair game.

Bottom line is, if 10 isn't enough for you, 15 isn't gonna help much. Most firefights on the street so NOT involve reloads and are over that quick. So moral of the story is, spend some money on ammo and get better at your accuracy, spend on force on force drills, tact shooting, etc. Because you can do as much or more damage with 10 rounds placed where you want them, than a gangbanger sprayin & prayin... And all that money you spent having fun is a hell of a lot better than handing it over to some fucking lawyer (no offense) to keep your ass out of jail.

Patriotism has nothing to do with it, it's called intelligence! If you have contraband in your trunk, you'll be smart to avoid any need to go there. Could've submitted to the will of the sobriety check and drove home. It's all how you handle it. I don't agree with the charges associated with the mags, Not the conviction, but cause & effect... Personally, I think there has to be some story we haven't heard, like prior encounter or something because it's too deep for just refusing a sobriety test. Just my opinion.

These are the type of people that talk tough and angry behind a keyboard and monitor but follow the laws themselves out in public because they don't want to go jail. They aren't taking up arms against the lawmakers or the police that protect the lawmakers. They aren't open carrying full featured AR's out in public.
