Finally got my build done. 6.5 Grendel with 20 inch Blackhole Weaponry Barrel. My cousin know the owner and was able to get me a pretty good deal on them which is the reason I went with them. Otherwise nothing all that special. Midwest Industries freefloat handguard (15 inch). Magpul MOE rifle length fixed stock. Geissele two stage trigger and the spur/enhanced trigger guard to make it NY/FUAC compliant. Threw some Leupold glass on top that I got for a half-way decent price and I think we're ready to rumble. Hope to try it out this weekend when I'm sighting in the deer rifles.

You need to get that scope mount off the handguard. Buy a mount that pushes the scope forward ( cantilever )

It still needs the Magpul CTR stock and the handguard covers and stops. I'll provide an updated pic when I get home and glom that and the light and sling on. I hope the M Lok stuff is not as big a PITA to install as I've heard.
I got a Blue Force Gear Vickers 2 point sling. OD Green with a foliage green pull tab, should look pretty sharp I think.

Nice looking gun. Will give you guys an update when i get the trigger, bcg, and it's safe in freedom land from the gestapo.
Also, @Podmonkey will be happy to know i changed the grip out for a magpul moe. That thing got annoying to even look at after the first day.
Hmnnn, Actually, just the naked uncolored hexgrip would have looked pretty tight with the handguard and stock. No way to strip the paint off?
Oh well live and learn. I really like the way the simple MOE grip feels in the hand, secure and comfy.
I get a real kick out of having the oil bottle in the grip too. I see it as a call back to the buttstock oil bottles in the old wartime bolt guns. It's like a link from the old to the new. Plus it's practical seeing as the #1 remedy for a stumbling AR is to dump a little oil in it.

part of why i did it actually was cause i did not like the hex grip. it was slick plastic. i definitely could strip the paint. would probably take me about 5 minutes really. will definitely drop one of my free little rem oil bottles in there for now.
Ah yeah. Of the so equipped rifles I've handled the basic (non rubber covered) MOE is nice and grippy with the little ridges and bumps without feeling rough or abrasive. It's one of the lighter grips too.

pretty much unless you want some ultralight titanium or something like that. as long as it's to spec.
edit: cmmg is just nice for beginners because they are broken up into bags of what each piece is for.
I got whatever @Bullet Guy uses. I'm sure they are fine.

Build your own rifle they say, its waaay cheaper they say. Even if I subtract Bullet Guy's modest assembly fee I'm not much under what I paid for the DD I don't think. Honestly I don't really want to find out. Just wanna shoot it. Got 1k of good ammo just waiting for me.
