For me it would mean the inability or severely limited options when they do become available to change the stock and rails.
Ruger's fuddness is also unappealing to me. With that said for a rifle that's 100 percent legal and can be taken outside with no worries, it's a good option for New Yorkers.
For someone in a free state like @Podmonkey , there are much better options. Like a 9mm AR pistol for instance with a folding arm brace that looks and acts as a stock with a 10.5 inch barrel for one that takes Glock magazines that also doesn't need tools to disassemble and triggers, stocks, rails, grips, ect have the ability to be swapped. Hell, even a binary trigger can be added.
I believe the sales of this rifle even in free States may prove you wrong! And one thing to remember as much as some bash them, there are a whole lot more Fudds buying firearms then those who buy Tactical type firearms!

The thing is all black, has a short barrel with threaded muzzle, takes detachable mags and is chamber in a caliber with limited utility for hunting. How the hell does all that add up to a fudd gun? Just because it lacks a pistol grip?
I tell you this: I do live in a free state but I still like the than better than most any other PCC, ugly as it is. Still like the Berretta CX4 also though.

As I said before, "If I was in the market for a PCC, being in NY I would buy one." No. It doesn't have to look like that although I would prefer one like that because that's what I'm used to. My first long gun was an issued M16A2. Pops was only a pistol guy so I never got to fire a long gun until I enlisted.
I'm also biased against Ruger I guess too. I don't like the whole "We'll support the AWB if you write the law in a way that doesn't include our Mini 14." That really irks me about them. It's the reason I got rid of mine when I found out. And now this in the same configuration. Fuck them.
Now with that said, if features aren't a legal factor, there are much better options out there where one can even get a different barrel twist. For example, I got my barrel in a 1x16 twist instead of a 1x10 which everyone seems to be copying.
You can even swap calibers on your own without waiting for Ruger's permission.

It's just nothing special in my opinion. It's like a 10/22 in a larger caliber. And we know how common those are. I like the sub2k better. It folds so you there is no possibility of losing either half. You can put all the tacticool stuff on it you want and is over 2 pounds lighter and $150 less. Oh and it takes more types of mags.
ETA: I think it looks better too.

I don't need to do any authentic testing to say the Ruger is 100% a better quality firearm! Lets just looka t the picture of the cheap plastic toy screwed together with phillips screws and plastic hinge and plastic locking lug. Keltec has lots of cool ideas that are poorly executed!
My camp 9 is hands down better than a keltec.

If you say so. That's the gen 1 by the way. The gen 2 has improved many things. So I guess the bottom half of glocks are inferior because it's plastic. I'd get a sub2k over the ruger given the choice in OD green like in this video.

I'm not the one claiming one is superior to the other. The person making the claim needs to back it up. I simply said I prefer one over the other and you started jabbering one about how one is extremely superior to the other. Without even laying hands on either I might add. And how do you determine what parts should and shouldn't be plastic? The parts that are plastic are designed that way and clearly work. And I guess the sub2k is a ghost gun as it exists in another dimension and the people who use them are aberrations. "Real world use" lol. How cute.

@gun_slinger_boy, I have been considering a Sub 2000 for a while now and I see them at the range pretty often. I have shot a few and liked them. However most of the Sub 2000 owners I've talked to have trouble with them. And the bolt doesn't lock back when empty, the Ruger does.
I'd not have thought a simple blowback carbine could generate such drama.

Do I buy Rugers? Yes.
