I said what i would have done in that situation, i would have answered the call, and if possession was the onle "crime" she was alleged to have committed, I would have looked for her, very slowly. Not sure how long you guys need to look before you call it, but I would not have found her.
Suppose slavery were still legal, how would you guys respond to a call of someone reported to be helping some slaves escape ? And before you go there, yes, I think this law is that bad.

Serious question. What's wrong with the responding officer 1) Explaining to the woman why she can't can't stop and sell the pistols in the state of NY. 2) Asking the FFL to give her a gun lock. 3) Watching her secure them in her vehicle and sending her on her way to the state of Maine?
If it is any consolation, I think the same of ALL gun laws.
If I am not mistaken, she was still in the store when the police showed up. No chance in claiming she could not be found. This is a tough call, it really is. I know some here may think this is an easy decision to make, it is a tough call.
Don't arrest and lie to your supervisor, possibly lose your job or be suspended, possibly lose my lively hood because this women did not research prior to her trip.
I am still surprised that so many here, not you Spat, are putting more blame on the police, NONE of this would have occured if the turd employee not made the call.
None of this would have happened if the women would have spent TWO minutes to read the FOPA law. Two minutes prior to her trip.
Then the officer may have jammed himself up for breaking the law himself. This shit really is not as cut and dry as some are making this.
Sounds like pretty much none absent the facts we don't currently have. The FFL called the police, very likely utilizing the 911 system. The audio is recorded and transcribed into various computers. I'm sure he gave detailed info having already looked into the firearms she possessed. At that point, whoever was dispatched has few options to avoid dealing with this woman.
No matter what, the anti-2nd Amendment FFL involved in the case bears 100% blame. Period, end of story.

Understood, thanks for the reply. Too many laws in this state/region that can jam somebody up...whether it's an honest citizen that makes an honest mistake traveling through here...or it's the enforcement officers pushed into acting on it, knowing the laws are ridiculous anyway. This state/region is an epic fail at this point.
Because there's already a 911 call detailing a serious of "serious" (according to NY law) felonies being committed by said woman. So stopping her and ignoring them is now a fireable offense, which if done your suggested way, the FFL remains untouched, the lady likely makes it out of NY and the cop some seem to feel should take the brunt of this, well, it takes ALL of it.

As per the press release, she was charged with a class A misdemeanor, not a felony.
Do you think the cops involved had any discretion as to whether or not to charge the woman? How about if, hypothetically, she had sold the guns to the FFL?
