I don't make the mistake of believing the GOP or the Dems truly is ever on my side, but I do know one is FAR more capable of hurting my interests than the other, and has an extensive track record for doing it. Typically you don't vote for what you're going to get, you vote to PREVENT the other party from inflicting upon your interests.

When Perot re-entered the race, Bush's polling numbers didn't go down more than Clinton's. Exit polling showed that about half of Perot voters would probably have stayed home if they didn't vote for him. Of the remaining half, they were pretty evenly split between Clinton and Bush. Perot didn't cost Bush the election. No way Bush makes up the 102 electoral votes necessary to beat Clinton.

NF, Perot voters were decidedly Republican in party identification, 2:1 . Respectfully, you're mistaken on that point. Perot didn't win nearly 20% of the popular vote without having a major impact on the election results. I'm familiar with the argument you've suggested regarding electorals, but haven't seen any real data that truly supports that theory. One thing is without question, Perot's candidacy taught most Republicans to think long and hard before ever voting for another 3rd party candidate, Dem defections aren't anywhere near as prevalent come election day.

For the first time ever, I believe I will blank the ballot for that office.
Republican Governor Charlie Baker is actually WORSE than the useless former Governor Democrat Deval Patrick.
A significant number of those Republicans were going to stay home. The economy was doing terrible, and unemployment was just under 8% during the summer of '92. For reference, during the recession 10 years ago, unemployment spiked around 10%. Bush's approval rate was in the 30s for most of the year before the election. It was at 29% at the end of September. He wasn't even doing all that well within his own party. The public didn't think he was doing a good job.
There is no way that 66% of Perot's voters would have went to the polls AND voted for Bush if it was a 2 party election. Exit polls showed that 38% of Perot voters would have voted for Bush and 38% of voters would have voted for Clinton as a second choice. Even after Perot dropped out of the race earlier in 92, Clinton never trailed Bush in polling. The Gallup polling wasn't even all that close. In those polls, the closest Bush ever came to Clinton was 9 points (and the furthest was 25).

I think you're partly right, that he doesn't care, personally. Where I think he does care is in the political and personality ring. He seems to be very bothered by people not 'liking' him, and I'm sure a lot of his initial statements stem from him saying what he thinks people want to hear. He has no impulse control. Wait a few days until some Republicans have a little heart-to-heart with him. Then he'll be pro 2A again.

I didn't log in yesterday, so I missed a lot. I needed a break and logged into a different forum for a bit. Same old fukin BS there. I didn't stay logged in for long. But I remembered a member mentioning Trumps commitment. Something to the words of ...... for every gun law he makes he'll abolish 3.
Now if he passes the BS ban then I'd be happy with:
1 repeal the NFA act of 1934
2 Ban all state wide AW bans
For the hell of it I'll add third.

But just the first 2 ...would solve everything. No. 1 brings back common use.

Of course they would, because if teachers were armed Not only would have provide a deterrent effect but it could provide real-world security. That means there will be less school shootings, that means their media puppets make less money by running their narrative, and the left will have less control over the population and not get to push their anti-gun agenda.
