So I don't know anything about air compressors. What kind of air compressor would be good for gassing-up a PCP air rifle?
I've always thought about a PCP air rifle, but would want my own compressor if I go that route. I'm definitely not hand-pumping. My Benjamin 392 multi-pump rifle is rough...
There's nothing inherently mechanically inaccurate about snubbies. They can very accurate. The limiting factors are pretty much the short sight radius and the long, heavy trigger making them harder for the shooter to be accurate.
As for your high POI with heavy bullets, that's normal. The...
It hangs over our heads every year and will eventually pass. You still can use lead bullets for large and small game hunting on NY public land including NYC watershed as far as I've been able to find. Despite the price, I was proactive about working with lead-free bullets.
The prices are...
I use a digital jeweler's scale that's accurate to 0.001 grams. It ignores weight drops below a certain threshold, so you have to throw a charge and trickle assertively instead of daintily. When I use it, I'll verify every so-many loads with my balance beam scale. Works great for me.
The guy is one of those pompous twats who thinks everything is better in Europe or anywhere else abroad. He probably still laughs like a retarded hyena when Euros crack the old joke comparing American beer to sex in a canoe.
Hell yea I'd enjoy shooting at 100-400m targets at beautiful ranges...
I did that with my Glock 35. Turned it into a G27XL. 5.3" barreled slide with the stubby G27 length grip. It was fun. Reasonably easy to carry, great ballistics, fun to shoot. Had the .357 Sig and 9mm conversion barrels as well. The only gun I almost regret selling.
I'd bet that the author, Mr. Nick Penzenstadler, would probably rather these boys be painting their nails and guillotining their weinies. After all, he's happy to repeat the lie that guns are the leading cause of death of children, among every other Dem talking point.
For those cartridges, I'd go with Kev74's suggestion of a progressive press. You don't want to spend 2 hours to make 100 rds of 9mm or .45 ACP. You probably aren't looking for super precise loads and will probably get bored if you can't crank out quantity.
I still load on a single-stage and...
For years, the Dems have been able to say all kinds of vulgar things about Republicans and conservatives in general. Every insult in the world through SNL, Colbert Report, Jon Stewart, etc. For years, Republicans took it like absolute pussies. Finally Trump jumps in the arena and is willing to...
Yea, with the new semi-auto license/endorsement you need to buy semi-auto rifles it probably doesn't make any business sense for them to keep selling them. What would they have in semi-auto anyway? Some 10/22s, a PC9, and maybe a couple Mini-14s and Mini-30s. I bought my first rifle, a 10/22...
With an autoloader I always carry an extra mag. Not only just in case you need a reload, but also in case something wild were to happen to the mag – like in all my pants-pooping stress I were to drop my mag while fumbling for the gun or if I hit the deck with the pistol in hand, the baseplate...
Because the law previously set prohibiting lawful concealed carry as the default. Now the default is to allow concealed carry unless explicitly forbidden.
I wholeheartedly agree with your take on the issue of character references to establish "good moral character". However, when it comes to...
I don't cast myself but have tried many cast bullets. I got a batch of Hi Teks that leaded the barrel of one of my revolvers horribly. I figured out they were too big and guessed that the coating was coming off as each bullet squeezed through the cylinder. I pan lubed the batch and that totally...
If you eat them regularly for any period of time, you will poop out a rock. On the bright side, if you receive oncoming fire, you probably won't be capable of crapping your pants.
I hope to get a couple of chances to take my muzzleloader out to get my first deer with it. I only took it afield once in the 2½ years I've had it. I used to shoot hardcast 255 gr .45 SWCs in a .50 cal sabot over 80 gr of fffg Triple Se7en. Accuracy was good, but I'd get bad fliers every so...
The old joke used to go that:
In heaven the police are British, the cooks are French, the lovers are Italian, the mechanics are German, and everything is organized by the Swiss.
But in hell, the police are German, the cooks are British, the lovers are Swiss, the mechanics are French, and...
Like was said, slow twist rate barrels won't stabilize sabots well. 1:66 is slow, 1:48 is medium, and it's unlikely to have a faster twist than that. If it's 1:48, it'll potentially shoot sabots well, and will likely shoot patched round balls well. If it's 1:66 it should shoot ball very well but...
Everything kev74 said, and a few tips.
Getting started with patched round balls, I bought pre-lubed patches. The good thing about them is that they sell the patches in fixed thicknesses so I bought 0.490" balls for my .50 cal muzzleloader and used a 0.015" patch for a tight fit. I also didn't...
I definitely don't treat my 629 like it's made of glass, but I also don't doubt the many reports of S&W .44s shooting loose sooner than most other revolvers in the class. I shoot my .44s probably a lot more than most people who own a .44. It just makes more sense for me to shoot the hotter stuff...
For all Ruger's talk about the strength of their GP100, their .44 version is only a Special while S&W's L-frame M69 is a .44 Magnum. What I will give Ruger is that their lockup system is stronger with the crane locking point doing a better job of keeping the action tight than S&W's lockup point...
Agreed, I'd take that case apart. I've shot .44 Special cases with tiny cracks, maybe a millimeter down from the case mouth, but I've never had one with a crack that long make it past inspection. I wouldn't shoot that one.
Very cool. That's a real heavy-hitter of a load and those slugs look mean! I feel just as bad for whatever's on the receiving end of that load as I do for your shoulder.
Another convert – Welcome to the cult of the wheelgun! That's a great little revolver. Now, maybe you could be convinced to take a second look at a nice Ruger, which I believe you compared to a "hooker". I would call this girl more of a "high-end escort".
Mine also has some lateral play in the hammer. Haha, Ruger isn't quite all that bad, but the truth from what I've seen is that at least their revolvers are made rugged and "good enough". They work and often very well, but they aren't refined pieces.
So I have a couple of each of S&W and Ruger including an SP101 in 22LR.
I've had quality issues with both.
The SP101 I got had pretty rough fit and finish. The adjustable rear sight had too short of a spring so it barely had any click adjustment. I installed a longer sight spring meant for a...
Realistically, buying them online is probably your cheapest and most efficient option. Midway, Brownells, Natchez, Powder Valley, Grafs. If they have free shipping or free Hazmat and you buy 3 or 4 lbs, you'll make out just as well or better than finding stuff locally. Especially when you factor...
I love it, you not only got that revolver bug but you got that magnumitis bug bad. A .44 has much more recoil, but the revolver is heavier and the grip is much more substantial, so you feel it much less. I enjoy shooting .44 Magnum in a full-size revolver. I don't enjoy .357s or very hot .38 +Ps...
This is way beyond that though. It's poor weapons handling at the most basic level. Alcohol involved, pointing a weapon at someone else, failing to check that the weapon was unloaded, and "dry-firing" a loaded and ready firearm.
I love people who say that. It lets me immediately know that they...
Very nice. I think your grips have a lot to do with shootability. They look much beefier and have an enclosed backstrap.
And yea, 5 rounds go very fast. But if you bought it as something to carry when you'd usually carry nothing, then it's 5 more than you'd have otherwise.
Depends on the intended usage. The power is definitely befitting of the bulk of a 6" barrel on a .357 Magnum, but the question is whether the bulk is worth what you'll use it for.
If you plan to carry it a lot, a 3" barrel will be more comfortable. If it's more of a target shooting or woods...
I'm not even old, but retaining my brass is a huge part of why I love revolvers so much. Makes reloading my cartridges much less of a headache. I hate chasing brass to reload.
Podmonkey, as far as the 586 L-comp vs the 686+, I doubt that not using moon clips would reduce accuracy or cause light...
Fantastic. It really annoys me that QC at so many major manufacturers is shoddy enough these days to let very bad guns out the door, but for those who care enough to send them back, they at least stand behind their product. Glad to hear that they not only fixed it for you but had the custom shop...
