I had not considered about the issue of only being able to purchase handguns through FFL in your state of residence. That's what the bill says. It says that ANY issued state license is valid in Any state. It would render the NYS permit meaningless assuming you moved in from another state with your own pistols. Getting new guns would be the problem and you'd need the NY one to do that since federally you cannot buy one in another state unless you built your own.
But I imagine that some people would get fed up with NY enough to move to a nearby state, and then buy what handguns they want there. And I suppose it is also possible that some of them might find they don’t like their new home and then decide to move back to NY a month or two later.
If it passes and is signed by Trump, there are two things about it that I would really appreciate. The first would be exactly what the law is intended to fix, namely my right to travel anywhere in the USA with the ability to carry without the worry and hassle we see today.
The second thing would be the great feeling of joy knowing that the asshole anti’s could not do anything to prevent me and countless others from carrying everywhere.
