I ask hornady once why their newer manual had lower loads the the previous one his answer was they used a different gun to check velocity on the proof loads so one was a 4in hand gun and the other 6in hand gun. So to get the velocity number the powder load would be different . It made sense to me.

I've worked on a couple for friends 223s and on my 308 the mag being sloppy I think has been fixed in the new production run of the 223s. The issue with the 308 is the mag springs are way too strong and put so much pressure on the bolt it is hartld to cycle a mag with more then 3 rounds in it...
