I think many of you have failed to realize the threat that merging HR 4477, "fix NICS" bill with the reciprocity bill poses.
HR 4477 is a massive backdoor gun ban. If it does get merged with HR 38 we will be forced to fight the both of them, which is precicsley what the antis want.

Please show what you mean about HR4477, the fix NICS bill. What section / sub section do you refer to? Most all of the bill is about requiring authorities to report information to the NICS system and the funds those authorities could lose for not reporting information to the NICS system in a timely manner (good thing). Where do you see a gun grab?

Have you ever been perscribed medication for depression or ADHD? If so, under this bill, you would be a "mental defective" and ineligible to purchase a gun. Have any unpaid traffic tickets, even if you are unaware of them? Under this bill you are now a fugitive from justice and ineligible for for gun purchases. Do you have anyone in your household that fit tgese criteria? That may flag you under tge new NICS guidelines. If HR 4477 passes then all it takes is the stroke of a future anti gun president to cause anyone and everyone from being flagged under NICS for whatever reason such executive orders deem. This is a backdoor gun ban that puts us all in the crosshairs.

To my understanding, they are thinking about combining HR 38 with this new NICS check bill. Whether or not this is an attempt to get the reciprocity bill to pass through offering the democrats some sort compromise, I cannot say. What does seem to be evident is that there is a strong likelihood that these bills will need to be passed together. If that is the case, I would certainly still support it because nationwide reciprocity is an absolute priority for this country.

Reciprocity changes everything. It makes legal guns more visible in anti-gun strongholds. It will provide tons of data for studies to prove that legal gun ownership does not create crime. There is much more at stake here than simply individuals being able to carry individually.

In that light, who cares if it gets bundled with a NICS bill? This needs to pass to change the landscape once and for all on legal gun ownership.

Remember also that bills rarely get repealed. This is our chance to get this done. If the makeup of our government flips (which it will eventually), this bill never passes BUT if it gets done now, it won’t be repealed more than likely.

On another note, I know a guy who was denied his Suffolk county permit because he had 2 speeding tickets, and another non moving violation ticket on his DRIVING record. I dont trust these bastards.

It matters big time if it leads to vastly increased numbers of people forbidden from firearms ownership. Personally If I am barred from buying guns any reciprocity is moot.

There was a YouTube video of a guy alluding to those points as well in another thread. He seemed pretty angry about it in the video and probably embellished some points. I understand the no compromise guys. I really do. But sometimes other things are more important to get closer to the big picture.

If this thing passed as it's written, it would put a serious dent in NY's laws. Magazine capacities, AW pistols, NYC's non issue, ect would be at risk.

I don't know. Maybe it's a backdoor deal with the Dems so that the Republicans can vote no on it like they planned on doing anyway but now they appear to be fighting for us when in reality they didn't want reciprocity in the first place. I don't know.

I took a quick read through and I didn't see anything about it either. It looks to me that the bill is more about fixing the lack of enforcement and lack of notifying of felony crimes. Which is the problem we're having with NICS anyway.

Well no not in NY, there is no duty to inform, only if directly asked, but there are other states that if an6 contact with and officer you have to immediately inform them

It isn't illegal if you don't though. That's like restrictions. It's not in the penal law.
