Once again this technically should go in the pistol forum........ but I am going to put it here, I think you all understand why.
Out of really short barrels 5.56 generates only slightly more muzzle energy than 10mm ammo does in a similar length barrel. I'm thinking that put of a 9" or less...
A really long time it seems. I have routinely gone for 1k+ between cleanings (I have on multiple occasions shot that much in a single range session) and have gone just past 2k a few times as well, primarily out of laziness.
I generally clean after every range trip but sometimes it doesn't...
For your benefit @Edwardteach72
I had several shooting buddies that owned the original ones and the were all temperamental creatures and not particularly accurate either.
My one buddy owned a PSL and a DPMS 308 and both were pieces of rattle trap shit. He couldn't get either to cycle...
It's amazing something like this actually managed to get adopted.
I wish the cartridge had been able to be developed more. Its ballistics were perfect for military use even right up to today. A little extra velocity, a smaller higher pressure case.... We could be rocking a 6mm cartridge right...
I would have loved to be present when the for the first instance of this happened.
"Uh........ Sir? We like....... sorta got our rifles stuck together."
Last time I posted a mud test from this channel a lot of delicate heinies got hurt so I'm posting another one! It didn't do all that bad, just not as good as a standard AR15.
And I welcome the opportunity to throw a little shade on the overhyped, overpriced and overweight 416. Did you know...
I had been thinking the XL version of the P365 was just a me too response to the 43/48 and Shield longslide. Seeing this however and it seems to hot a carry sweet spot. My only concern is that if I bought one it might render my Shield and G19 pointless.
Most of us probably had an understanding of the inner workings of Glock pistols but I thought the models and cutaway animation were extremely good so I wanted to share this.
First English review I have seen of this optic.
I agree with everything he says.
@Edwardteach72 (cause you like this stuff)
@Willjr75 ( the LPV cynic)
@meketrefe (our resident, near savant level, guru)
I have been talking up bolt action precision rifles a lot lately but really what I ought to get is another pistol. I have a woefully scant and unexciting pistol collection consisting of only the S&W Shield, the Glock 19 and the Walther PPQ. The Walther I intend to sell at some point. Thefore...
So, some of the threads lately have got my daydreaming about the SCR.
Say you were gonna do a fuddly AR15 build ala:
(I actually think this rifle is amazingly cool and it makes me jelly)
It seems to me no self respecting fudd would have anything to do with the poodle shooting 5.56x45, so...
Interesting cartridge. I find these polymer jacketed rounds interesting in general.
I bought a case of the red practice stuff on a good sale fro Gander. It was fine, didn't preform in any special way but it was fine.
I have fairly recently been bit by the precision rifle bug, must be from trying really hard to eke out brag worthy groups with my AR15s
I had been looking at the offerings from Ruger, Savage, Tikka, Bergara and noticed that even those cost a pretty good amount of money. Last few days I have...

Should have adopted way back then!

NEW AR-10 Cartridge: .475 Bishop Short Magnum -
When I saw the pressure level I was like
"Holy shit!"
When I saw 390gr @ 2,500fps I was like
"Holy shit!"
When I saw $189 per box of 20 I was like
"HOLY SHIT!!"
I'm thinking they should have just...
Its funny really, the tired and worn out M16s I was issued did little to dispel the myths of Stoner's ingenious operating system in my mind. Even when I got my very own Colt 6920 M4orgery, that ran like a scalded ape, I didn't think about it much.
But since returning to the platform after my...
He is absolutely right, it is highly counterproductive and also simply rude.
And it occurs to me that I was guilty of this towards @HEX in his looking for a shotgun thread. For that I truly apologize, I was wrong there. While it was only my intent that he have the best possible tool I realize...
Got the rifles, the optics, the rest and some new ammo to try out. Just need some days without rain. That last one might be too tall an order unfortunately. Nonetheless, for tour perusal:
A variety of Hornady/Lake City "Frontier" 5.56
These are apparently a joint effort using Hornady...
Nightstrike Diamondback Angled Foregrip
Seems like the best thing for "pistols" that cannot use a true vertical foregrip.
If'n I ever get that ACE pistol I'd put this on there.
This is a thread I have been wanting to do for a while now....
There are a number of us expats here in PA-
More than I can remember but I know of @GOYABEAN and @gun_slinger_boy specifically and I know I am forgetting two other people (sorry!) And I know @swilliams is down. And there are a...
So I was doing laundry and daydreaming to pass the time when I wondered- If you could go back to pre WWII what designs would you bring with you to arm our military?
The ground rules, you are limited to materials, metallurgy and manufacturing methods from the 1930s. Reason being that if you...
I would like to play with some of this stuff too. I wonder if there is a commercial market for this type of ammo? I wonder if this would be effective HD/SD ammo?
Also Ian's custom G3 there is giving me rifle envy.
Don't mess around in a Metro PCS store. In Florida at least.
Personally though I wouldn't have gone near him, too much risk, nor would I have turned my back on him.
For the most part .22LR has become boring to me but I have so much of it in I'd like to get back into it.
This gun interests me, it looks like something Robocop would carry, the 33 round capacity interests me (good survival gun perhaps) it seems to be extremely accurate and it easy to mount a...
