I have twice used windage adjustable rings in situation similar to yours. One was a savage 99 in 300 savage that was home drilled and tapped a bit off ( not by me).
Two things I did to make that one come out right. First I used a six foot piece of straight 1/2” aluminum rod to get the...
Before you take a ride to Pennsylvania for that “super easy” permit check the specific requirements of the county you are going to visit. It can very from super easy to they are only doing non resident renewals but no new non res permits Because covid. Some require appointments. It varies
This situation is worse than just being on the west coast. I left the PRM (people’s republic of Massachusetts) because of laws worse than this. In the PRM not only did guns need to be locked, but also ammunition and ammunition components. Loan someone your truck and a single piece of...
Assuming it will be shooting slugs for deer, my favorite is 2 power leupold for woods hunting.
Ive killed a few inexpensive scopes on slug guns with their stout recoil. By a quality scope with a good warranty (that hopefully you won’t need.). You don’t need a lot of magnification for...
I have shot both .308 and 6.5 CM out to 1000 yards and killed multiple deer with both calibers (250 -300 yards shots on deer)
At the range on targets the two calibers I find equal out to 700 yards. Past 700 yards it is easier to get hits on steel with 6.5, and the farther out you go the bigger...
No problem. Build a dedicated .22 rim fire. Now you won’t have to start reloading a new caliber! Go with a CMMG conversion kit and barrel. Buy the better mag adapter to use S&W .22 magazines.
Watching the video on bore buddy weighted system in the pastI’ve thought it might help reliability even in semi auto mode. Might try it some day.
I do keep a spare firing pin I’m my kit. The one firing pin I broke drove me nuts with intermittent failures to fire. The broken tip was...
Regarding failure to feed jams or poor ejection it almost always is dirty feed ramp and chamber. .22 LR is dirty. Crud will build on ramp and in chamber. I rarely clean .22 barrels but the feed ramp and chamber will need almost a polishing to get clean. When I’m practicing for an Appleseed...
Thats it. Before you put the .22RF collar on your adapter watch the CMMG video on how to do it without damaging your adapter. Either on cmmg web site or YouTube.
I have put close to 10000 rounds through mine. Lots of fun, and kids / grandkids and “old kids” all want to shoot them.
I...
I built a dedicated upper with the same cmmg barrel as you selected. Using CCI standard velocity ammo it is very accurate. I shot 240 out of 250 at an Appleseed with it. Usually shoot mid 230’s.
I have two dedicated uppers now. I use S&W 10-22 magazines and the better mag adapters...
There is a problem with your math. It is 3 million divided by the 10 Restuarant s of FUAC’s friends so $300k to each. Each friend will then donate $150k to FUAC’s re-election campaign. So equitable distribution. /S
This. I have taken two bucks and two coyotes with ELD-X in 6.5 CM. The one bullet recovered had like 87% weight retention and expanded nicely. The others left nice holes in and out. I would not expect that performance from the match ammo.
Two key points made above
1. Thordsen blemished stocks are great value. (Especially as you are going to camo this build correct?)
2. I always look for unthreaded barrels for target or featureless builds. It takes a little searching to find them but eliminates whole hassle of covering...
I have six Boyd’s stocks on Rem 700 short actions. Two on Muzzle loaders, two heavy barrel, two standard factory barrel contour (lightweight barrels). Three are AT1 adjustable. All dropped in and bolted up. My brother has four or five. All dropped in.
I’m aware of a couple people who...
Seriously, here is what I do
.223 Remington chambered barrel only .223 Remington
5.56 NATO chambered barrel either .223 or 5.56
.223 Wylde chambered barrel either .223 Remington or 5.56. Tends to be more accurate with either. Can’t say whether it is better chamber or just that it is...
Meh. When I can get anodized 80% lowers for that price ($35) I’ll get excited. Add in shipping and dealer transfer fee for a lower and the price is not that exciting. I was doing better than this under Obamas second term.
There are a number of apps and companies offering what is called real time analytics or presentation feedback. Recruit a representative sample of dems, republicans and independents and it is a simple thing to get and present real time reaction to a presentation.
Those AICS mags are great system. I am converting my fifth ADL / BDL / SPS stock over to the using PTG bottom metal. A little wood working but the come out nice. I did first one for PRS rifle but the convenience of loading and unloading for hunting had me do others for younger hunters.
I picked one up one of these with thumbhole last month for a Rem 700. If you are familiar with the AT one stock it was rather boxy by the tang with square-ish edges. They have listened to customers and rounded those edges over on the thumbhole. I have also added the overmolded forend and...
Getting back to the original post I think many of you are missing the larger point. A conviction of ANY non violent misdemeanor or felony that has a potential maximum penalty of two years will make a person a federally prohibited person. Forever. It appears some states are bumping up...
Not really news. In the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts (PRM) this has been the law of the land for quite a while. What happened was the PRM rushed to increase the maximum penalty to two years for a bunch of misdemeanors creating what are called “misdefelonies” to make you a federally...
Does existing-barrel have a rail or front sight / gas block combo?
It’s not terribly difficult if you are handy, can do simple repairs, and have a few tools (including a torque wrench). The you need a few specific ar tools. More if you need to remove and replace a front sight gas block combo...
We already had a 5.7 show up at club shooting steel at pistol range
One club I belong to already has started discussions on what to do, if anything, about the 5.7 pistol round on our ranges. We have several locations that are limited to shooting steel with non magnum pistol calibers in...
I agree with all of the above especially going to regular bolts instead of carriage bolts. Your carriage bolt failed at thin part of head.
At one club I belong to the big draw is shooting steel from 200 to 500 yards. The steel gets shot a lot and the only hangers they use are the ones that...
I agree with BD in Putnam, Hard to see blemish. Mine were accurately described as slight non uniformity in green color. You had to look close in good light to see it .
If you plan on doing camo on the rifle (or if you already have) look for the blemish units which are less expensive on Thordsen web site. I’ve done two starting with OD green blemish units that came out quite well.
There maybe hope for improvement in St Lawrence county. St Lawrence county court judge Richards who put sporting restrictions on most permits just retired after 15 years. His replacement will be selected in next November election. Meanwhile judges will rotate in replacement.
I used a stock ruger lightweight barrel to shoot distinguished at an Appleseed this year. I just added a leather check pad to help stock position.
Often in timed position shooting competition you don’t need tack driving accuracy. For me I shot CCI standard velocity ammo that was good enough...
I will say that two of the four clubs I belong to will not allow .338 L and larger calibers due to Excessive damage to steel targets. Owners could not refrain from shooting steel targets under 300 yards so both clubs banned 338 and up. Rifles not even permitted on club property (And targets...
30-06 is never a bad choice
For deer at 300 yards 450 bushmaster would be a bad choice.
There are several cartridges I would take over either one you listed. 270 Win in a long action or 308 in short action being two.
Just my opinion.
I use “for all lawful purposes” on my MA application. There are a few towns that on their permit application state you cannot use all lawful purposes as a reason, but this phrase is generally used.
I was exclusively buying Nikon for several years. The ( original) buckmaster with BDC in 4 - 12 X was very good value for the money and I bought several. Last time I went to get one Nikon had removed features and lowered price to Buckmaster II, or I had to pay twice as much for their higher...
I’ve used a floating case on my duck gun for years. Mostly to protect it from dogs, decoys and bumps getting into out of boats and blinds.
There is a nice Benelli in the muck at bottom of duck swamp near me that was not recovered that a neighbor should have had cased.
