I would think that any gun that appears on more than one permit gets check. It doesn't matter if it's in your possession or the other permit holders. If the police show up and demand you produce all of your guns how are you going to explain they not in your possession if you didn't list them...

You are assuming the NYSP are going to check if the guns you list match the county list? That seems almost impossible. I think the only thing the NYSP are going to check are the databases they can plug your name into.

They have some information. Not all counties do it the same and not all the information is current. This is why the re certification came about. So they have an accurate pristine master list.
