A couple of months ago I remember reading that the president of Mexico said that he'd restrict border crossings if Biden paid him 20 billion. I wonder if that happened.
I'm on the Mobil 1 bandwagon. It works well and doesn't gum up in very low temperatures. I do quite a bit of repairs and refurbishments in addition to normal maintenance, and I'll bet one quart will last me ten years.
I gather that a NY Supreme Court position will be on the ballot, and if I remember correctly, judges are not aligned with any political party. Any info on who to vote for?
After three weeks of no results due to virtually no rain, I reseeded on Monday because the weather forecast looked promising. Got a couple of good thunderstorms and by Friday I had sprouts everywhere. Don't know if these are the new or old seeds or a combination. Anyhow, all is well. Looking...
I planted a patch of radishes two weeks ago because some rain was forecast. Since then, I've had one ten-minute rain shower, and nothing has sprouted. How long will the seeds remain viable like this? Will they sprout if we get some wet weather maybe next week?
I have one on a .223. One of the issues I read about is that you need to ensure the recoil lug contacts the aluminum bedding block when the action screws are tightened down-evidently, they're not all perfect. Mine does and it shoots very well. If you want to clean from the breech without...
Rifle grenades for the British Lee-Enfield. On the left are WWI rodded types, the black one near the center is a smoke grenade. On the right is a sheet steel cradle held in position by a bayonet, with a No.5 grenade with a short rod. The later cup type discharger is hiding a No.36 grenade with a...
I took the survey and made my lack of support for non-lead ammo known. I don't like where this is going. Sounds like a (political) solution in search of a problem. As far as I can tell, the survey can only be accessed once, through the link in the email from the DEC.
I'll be in that area this week and thought I might make a side trip to browse around, but I don't know if it would be worth it. Can anyone say how well they're stocked with long guns lately?
After 20 years the ladder stand I made from pressure treated 2x4's is no longer safe to use, so I bought one o' them newfangled steel stands. Is it common to leave these up all year or do you normally bring them in after the season? Wondering about rust.
Have you taken it apart and looked? I had one and it was mostly hollow inside. You may be able to use a couple of machine screw type studs secured with nuts and washers on the inside.
Turns out they're not much interested in oats, but this year it's soybeans and there are a few chucks out there. Only got two in the field so far, but I got four that were commuting across my back lawn.
...this is a knife. Nothing to do this evening, so I took a pic of some military kukris. Got interested in them through collecting Lee-Enfield rifles and reading about the Gurkhas in the British and Indian armies.
After years of being just goldenrod, the field behind my house has been planted with oats and I understand the plan is to put in winter wheat later on. Will either of these crops attract woodchucks? Just wondering if it would be worthwhile to take a walk back there with a rifle.
Yes, Sunset Sporting Goods was owned by Tony Tantillo (R.I.P.). He was a good guy and it was a nice little shop. More than once, I went in to buy bait and came out with yet another gun.
My small patch of daikon radishes did pretty well this year and a small buck stopped for lunch today. I had tried turnips previously, but the deer didn't touch them until January. They seem to begin chewing on this stuff in late September, even with the alfalfa available next door.
I posted this on the other forum when I'd finished it, probably three years ago. It's a BSA martini 12/15 that had led a very hard life and I did some repairs and rechambered it to 22 magnum. Accuracy was mediocre and since that time I've been trying different ammo hoping that the rifle was just...
This is really not much to look at but I like it. Made by Remington in 1917 as a Pattern 14 rifle for the British, it probably participated in both World Wars and maybe a couple of other things. In 1953 it was converted into a Model E sporter by BSA which included recontouring the receiver and...
I got my first crossbow last year and was very impressed that I could shoot groups of about two inches at forty yards using field tips. When I tried the fixed broadheads that were recommended by the bow manufacturer my groups opened up to around six inches. I plan on trying some tuning tweaks...
I've bought a number of military surplus rifles through GB over the years, and the overall experience has been good. When buying any used gun it's up to you to do your research to know exactly what you're getting-ask questions and request more pictures if necessary. GB has a buyer protection...
I think the 30 grain difference is irrelevant-a deer will never know the difference. Good shot placement is everything, so use whatever shoots best from your rifle.
I'm pleased with the one rimfire Nikon Prostaff that I have. The BDC reticle is not useful to me but it's easy to ignore if desired. I would stay away from "see under" rings. Once you have a scope on you'll never want to use the open sights, aluminum rings are not sturdy and, as mentioned above...
